About the Author

Karen Penrose is a lifelong ocean enthusiast and educator with a passion for inspiring young minds through nature and science. She brings the underwater world to life through fun facts, vivid imagery, and easy-to-understand storytelling.

When not writing, Penrose enjoys tide pooling, visiting aquariums, and sharing the wonders of marine life with kids everywhere. Stingrays: Nature’s Underwater Gliders is her latest book created to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and promote ocean conservation.

Some of her other published works include self-help and guided journals for teens and adults, such as Nurturing Your Spirit: A 20-Day Journey of Personal Growth for Women, its unisex counterpart Becoming More: A Journey of Self-Discovery, and the teen-focused Ditch the Drama and Detox Your Vibe: A Getting Into My Feelings Journal for Teens. She also tackles the topic of mental wellness with Untangle Your Mind: Finding Peace Beyond Anxiety, a thoughtful journal for managing anxiety.

Penrose’s commitment to education and creativity shines through in her children's nonfiction biography George Washington: From Boyhood to the White House (for ages 7–12), as well as in her imaginative writing guide for tweens, A Spine-Tingling Journal of 50 Writing Prompts to Chill Your Bones.

In addition to her guided journals and creative nonfiction, Penrose has created themed notebooks for students and writers alike, including titles like Study + Chill: A Whimsical 150-Page Notebook for School, Notes From a Hot Mess, It’s Five O’clock Somewhere, 50 Shades of Notes, and My Brain Dump Space.

Whether helping teens navigate emotions, encouraging women on their personal growth journeys, or inspiring young writers, Karen Penrose’s work reflects her dedication to nurturing the spirit, sparking creativity, and promoting emotional well-being.
