    New Crocheter........................LOVED IT!!

I am just learning the crochet and I have bought other books that don't really explain how to do the stiches, they just tell you sp, c, etc, etc. I never knew what that meant but this book was amazing to walk me step by step and it included pictures so I could figure it out because I am visual person. I highly recommend this book!!! Also, the commentary by the author was fantastic and kept me very intriged! o)

Modern Day Crochet - Crochet Masked Mafia

In 2007, a few of my friends got together and started to crochet. We named ourselves the Crochet Masked Mafia. This group was created as a way to relax and reduce stress. This book was the start of this collective of young women working on an traditional craft. This book has been the modern day inspiration for our group. We always reference this book. We have made unlimited amounts of the baby hat and blanket set. The projects are easy to read and lots of fun to make. This book is excellent as a reference for a novice or expert. I am looking forward to another crochet book by this author.

    Terrific Book

This book was sooo easy to read and also a very helpful reference manual. Debbie Stoller has a unique writing style that made me feel like she was sitting in my living room talking to me. I really enjoyed her candor. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in crochet-beginner or experienced!!

    Fun, Easy, Great for Beginners!

I bought this book on a whim. As a beginning crocheter, I was looking for something to help me learn to read patterns and learn more than just a basic stitch. This book is informative while being fun and interesting, and now that I've learned the basic techniques, I can move on to the fun patterns in the rest of the book! I would purchase this book again, and recommend it to anyone who'd like to learn to crochet or improve their technique!

    Good Stuff!

Pretty much everyone in the knitting and crochet community (some of us swing both ways) knows about Stitch'N Bitch, and the crochet book is equally as good as the two knit books that came before it. There were a couple of projects I couldn't wait to make up the projects were easy to do and good looking, instructions were accurate, and I'm going back for more.

    What's With Her and Knitters?

Although Debbie does a nice job introducing people into the world of Crochet, she also does a nice job in making knitters sound like they are better than crochers...WRONG. She belittles her knitting fans. She makes little comments on the grounds of 'see knitters?? Corcheting isn't that bad'--etc. Which get vary annoying, esp since I am a knitter and I did find crocheting to be harder. A lot of what she had to say in the Knitting vs. crocheting section was her opinion, being pushed on Nonetheless, Debbie does a nice job explaining in this book than her other ones.

    Taught me how to crochet!

I knew nothing about crocheting when I opened this book, and within weeks the easy-to-follow instructions showed me how to master the basics. The instructions are great, and the patterns included are a lot of fun. I've already made two scarves featured in the book and I'm on to afghans and purses now. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about crochet.

    LOVE IT!!!

Honestly one of the easiest books to follow. I already know how to crochet and needed a little 'refresher' course. This book was great in describing the different stitches and methods. The projects are easy to follow also.

    Excellent!

This book was wonderful! Easy to understand instructions, fun to read, great patterns! I've been crocheting for 2 years and this book helped me perfect my techniques. I bought the book mainly for is patterns, but once I opened it I couldn't put it down. I would recommend this to a beginner or intermediate crocheter--the best crochet book I've seen!

I learned how to do a single stitch when i was very young but never really knew how to read patterns or do anything fun or fancy. i bought this book on a whim and it was probably the best spur of the moment purchase i have ever made. the instructions were very easy to follow and she goes over how to do all the different stitches and how to read patterns. I LOVE this book. i have since bought copies for friends and family members. if you are new to crocheting or are just a beginner, this book is a great tutorial and reference guide. i would highly recommend it to any one.
The one thing that i didn't particularly care for in the book was the author's attempt at humor. I'm sure she is a wonderful person in real life but the humor doesn't carry well over text. I could have done with out the knitter vs. crocheter bickering-like comments. I have never encountered a knitter who was rude to me because i am a crocheter instead of a knitter, so i'm not sure where the author's animosity is based but in general i have found crafters are very open and accepting of one another and the methods in which we choose to create awesome fiber products.
All in all though, this is a very educational and informative book. i really enjoy it. and thanks to Ms. Stoller's instructions i have been able to move on to much more advanced and challenging patterns.

You only need ONE book to learn how to crochet - THIS ONE

Decided to learn how to crochet, and got a few books. Turns out this was the only one I needed. Instructions are clear, and humorous to boot. She says exactly what I am thinking most of the time. The illustrations (i.e. a drawing with an arrow that says "here" and "not here") were sooooo helpful. I am thoroughly enjoying my newfound skills.

    Funnest crochet book ever!

I am fairly new to crochet - self taught last summer - and the love the craft. This book really caught my eye. The patterns are interesting and creative but not to difficult to scare away the beginner. I can't put the book down. And doesn't going to the yarn store just make your day better! Just wish I had more time to crochet!

The Happy Hooker has given me all sorts of ideas beyond the afghan

I have been crocheting for a few years but spent all my time working up blankets. This book has been great at inspiring me with more project ideas that create excellent gifts for friends and family. There is a nice selection of wearable pieces that are classic fashion items. The basic hats included can be built upon to be more personalized. The narration is quite funny and there is a terrific portion dedicated to teaching new crocheters all the important skills.
