The Barrington Billionaires continues and as always Ruth Cardello has written a wonderful book about family, love, and happiness. Dax Marshall is a business man through and through, he sets his goals and moves whatever mountain he has to, in order to achieve those goals. He doesn't do relationships and the word "love" is not in his vocabulary. That is until he meets a very drunk and distraught Kenzi Barrington, on a beach one night, and for some reason he understands her like no one else ever has. "You are stronger than whatever you are facing" and Kenzi holds on to that thought like she never has before. Dax is a brutally honest man and Kenzi hides behind the truth, or actually lies, so as not to hurt others feelings. You have to read this book to watch the transformation between these two, as they talk about where and how they got to this point in their lives and figure out where to go from there. And poor Dax, once that word LOVE rears its head, he is lost from that point on. "Love may not be in your vocabulary, Dax, but it's in your heart". This is a must read, for all fans of Ruth Cardello, and even first time readers. Dax will make you swoon and you will find yourself pulling for Kenzi as she tries to make her family understand her. I absolutely fell in love with the twins, Willa and Lexi, and also with Clay, best friends of Kenzi and Dax. I adored Taffy and that part of the book will pull at your heartstrings really hard. And the Barringtons, the mom, dad, and brothers are all overbearing and protective of Kenzi, but the brothers just take a little longer coming around. So prepare yourself to laugh, cry and fall in love with these characters!!

I always enjoyed Ruth Cardello's novels. And just when I thought she's written her best one yet, she come around with something even better. For me this is her most emotional novel thus far. I have probably reiterated so much in my previous reviews how I'm not a fan of love at first sight or whirlwind romances. This is not a love at first sight but I guess this qualifies as whirlwind romance. But somehow that thought didn't bother me with Kenzi and Dax' story. I guess it's because of the way Dax' had seen Kenzi the first time considering that the way they met was not very ideal. I liked how he understood her needs more than anyone who knew her ever did and how he put those needs first before his own. Kenzi's life experience was heartbreaking. I feel her so much even though I personally hate the name Kenzi. Funny how I didn't even noticed her name much until I wrote this review. I guess that showed how much individuality Ruth's characters have that you can see them for who they are and not relate their name to anyone else. Kenzi's family can get a little overbearing at times yet you can see how they love her in the way they know. This bit gave the story humor which made it all the more enjoyable to read. What I love most about this story was how the characters grew. And mind you, I don't mean just the main characters but everyone of them that is in this book. And as usual, I love how Ruth's story is about family, friendship and love... how to understand each others as friends and/or as family even during those times when you don't even understand yourself. For me, that will never ever get old. Because at the end of the day, that is what makes life bearable at hard times and more satisfying during the good times.

It was a great book I love how Dax was honest about everything and wad able to find love in the end. Kenzie was stronger than she thought and it just took for her to realize that she was a good woman in and out.

I really enjoyed this book. Kenzi and Dax are both great characters. Kenzi had a traumatic event in her past that she has kept from everyone for years. Her family has created an atmosphere of keeping all negative things quiet in order to protect Kenzi's mother. In doing so, Kenzi kept her secret to herself even though it was impacting her life in unproductive ways. Dax is a loner. He doesn't have any family and hasn't had a good experience with the limited family he had as a child. When Kenzi and Dax meet, the chemistry is off the charts. Dax gives Kenzi just what she needs, someone who will listen to her without judgement. The growth in these two characters is the best part of the book. The relationship, the chemistry, the heat are all great but what I really loved was how Kenzi was able to finally stand up and admit to everyone what happened to her and then use that horrific event in her life to help others. The book is superbly written and tells the story of these two characters and their personal growth in a very meaningful way. Plus, it is hot! ARC given for contest win.

Excellent read! Dax and Kenzi are great characters and you know from the beginning their relationship will turn into something special. Not without obstacles though. Dax is a strong powerful businessman and Kenzi's brothers have had their share of run-ins with the man and don't think highly of him. Kenzi has always struggled with asserting herself in her male dominated family and her relationship with her mother isn't as strong as she wants it to be. She's determined to fix both of those issues. Her biggest obstacle though will be getting Dax to believe that love is real and everyone is capable of it. You don't want to miss this one. I highly recommend it.

A book that make you want to be yourself and fix any strain on a relationship in which you may have with you parent. It gives you voice when you were a shell of yourself because of a past you couldn't control as well as one that left you broken beyond repair. Dax was a man who listened and took action more so than used words. Always honest even if it is the HARD TRUTH. The one person he wasn't honest with was himself buy Kenzi brought that lie to light and then some. She taught him love and devotion and he taught her that her voice needs to be heard and never stand down to please others because in the end you will resent them and have no feelings at all. That was the lesson in which she needed because The Barrington's although they were disfunctional they were tight knit and loyal to one another. Secrets tore them in two inside but on the outside they held their own and then some. It took the spitfire of the baby-girl to bring skeletons to light and allowed the family to shed a little more guilt and embrace what is there NOW. I can't wait to see what is next because this book left you wanting to pick Ruth brain for more even if she has no clue yet. YES, there are clusterfucks and mind bogglers that will have you ready to have the next book ASAP.... I do feel the best is yet to come even if I had the "FEELS" while crying and getting over each milestone.
