This book, which is number five in the publisher's "Wishbone Mysteries" series, is well written and enjoyable to read. Middle schoolers, especially those interested in sports, will become immersed in the believable plot and identify with one or more of the characters. The chapters build momentum and intrigue as Joe, the lead detective, uses analytical thinking and common sense to solve the mystery.
