Overview

Gryphons flying past skyscrapers? Wizards battling it out in coffeehouses? Women riding motorcycles with large swords strapped to their backs? All normal sights since the Great Collision happened twenty-six years ago.

Well, not normal for everyone. Larissa Miller may have been born after the Great Collision, but as a history teacher who lives in the human-only city, she has never come into contact with any other race or species, nor has she wanted to. Her life is as ordinary as it gets - that is, until one day she walks out of her apartment and is attacked by a mob of Zombies, only to be saved by a Gargoyle.

Gargoyles trust no one outside their Clan, but due to a cryptic prophecy, Terak, Leader of the Gargoyles, has been watching over the human woman for months. While he can find no reason why the woman has been singled out, something about her stirs every protective instinct within him. When the attack confirms that the threats against her exist and are real, he convinces Larissa that though their races have never been allies, the best chance of discovering why she has been brought into his world is by working together.

In the course of their investigation Terak becomes entranced by his little human. But when he discovers why Necromancers want her and the great reward that awaits him if he betrays her, he must choose between the welfare of his Clan and not only Larissa’s life, but the fate of this New Realm as well.

~~~~~
In Danielle Monsch's STONE GUARDIAN, trust between species doesn't come easy, but a human woman's love for her gargoyle guardian transcends all the old prejudices. I loved it! ~~ Alexis Morgan, author of MY LADY MAGE (Bk 1, Warriors of the Mist)
    Worth a read
    the book is well written and brings you to a world that most fantasy books don't go. its not what I would call a great book but definitely worth the read. Fyi - there is a little adult content so warning for the easily offended reader. Its really on a few small parts
    The start of this book is a bit chaotic and confusing - and while I feel that was on purpose - it did make it a little difficult to get into the story.
    Danielle Monsch has imagined a world where our earth has collided and combined with another dimension in which many of the creatures and races we had thought to be myth actually exist.
    The main story takes place 26 years after this event.
    Larissa is a 26 year old young woman born at the very moment of this cataclysmic merging of two realities. Her father and 4 brothers are all police in the same town. This town is supposedly protected by magical wards from many of these new mythical races.
    And as to be expected - there is something about Larissa that makes her different and special - that she is of course unaware of.
    The Stone Guardian from the title is actually a Gargoyle. He is the leader of the secretive and feared gargoyles and is called Terak.
    Terak and Larissa are drawn into a life or death mystery about what makes her special and how it relates to the end of the world.
    And there is a love story. Between the Gargoyle and the human.
    And that would be ok - if it wasn't so awkwardly  portrayed.
    Monsch does not seem comfortable writing about and expressing sexual thoughts and situations - so you end up with 2 twentysomething adults expressing their sexual desires and wishes like gawky teens in the middle of puberty. And they are both virgins. I don't know if this is a nod to the ridiculous Twilight series or some misplaced nod to old fashioned Christian values - either way it gets in the way of what is basically a decent and interesting story - and that is unfortunate.
    A good concept, some decent writing and the start of intriguing characters are bogged down by the fact that the author can't decide whether she is writing a YA novel or more mature adult fiction.
    If she can make a decision and embrace it - and leave out the awkward sex scenes - this series could be alright.
    I was provided a gratis copy for review.
    Surprise
    This book really is a surprise to me. Some things you expect with paranormal romance. This book surpassed all expectations. Left wondering what the next obstacle would be.
    Not what I was expecting
    I am don't normally read many romance novels as it many of them seem to nothing more than sex romp disguised as a good story. This story suprised me. It is actually a story, with a romp near the end. I enjoyed it, and that in and of itself, suprised me more.
    So far I have loved this book. There is nothing better in the world than an author that knows how to write. I am giving it 4 stars for now because I have not finished it, but I just had to say something.
    I have a comment for the reader that thinks Ms. Monsch is a bit undecided on how she wants to write this book. To have charecters that are somewhat unsure of themselves is not misplaced. To have both the main charecters as virgins who are discovering each other is not adolescent, it's just how it is.
    In a world that unfortunately goes for the instant and carnal gratification first, it's nice to see and feel the innocence that two people attracted to each other can feel. It makes me feel good to experience the feelings that Terak and Larissa have for each other.
    I have found that I don't like reading Paranormal Romance books with kids as the main focus because they are usually kind of dumb and I just can't get into them, but this story of Twentysomethings on a journey of untold discoveries is a really good read.
    I will check out other books by Ms. Monsch as like her writing styleI
    Great story & addition to urban fantasy
    3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book. It was a fun new take on urban fantasy. The characters were believable and the setting was interesting.
    I would have liked to seen more interaction with the protagonist and her city, family, and friends. The state of the world in this story plays a very large part in the story line and character development. I feel the author skimmed over it just enough to have the story make sense but I didn't feel like I was there. Also, there are some pretty major characters in the story that play a large part in the outcome but are not developed as much as I would like. However, I can see that the author is obviously setting people and things up for a second book. I hope to get to know everyone better in the next story.
    This world has great potential and I'm excited to see where I am taken.
    I really liked this book but with my nook it is hard to find because it is not with the rest of the arthors books. Stone embrace is really the ending of this book and much easier to find... I would recommend
    Loved this book! Paranormal romance with a unique twist - who would have imagined a hot gargoyle as the good guy?! But believe me, it works. The characters practically came alive on the pages, the storyline thorough and fast paced enough to make it all but impossible to put down. Action, mystery, suspense, romance, and some deliciously - but not overly done - steamy scenes. I recommend for anyone who likes paranormal romance and is tired of reading the same old vamp and were stories.
