About the Author

As a native of Seattle, Washington, Steve grew up in Seattle, on Long Island, New York and in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by pristine lakes, streams and oceans enjoying the great outdoors regardless of the weather. Through his family’s love of fishing, camping and travel, he came to appreciate the gifts of Mother Nature and the need to leave the smallest footprint possible.

During his career, he has worked for local governments, consulting firms, had his own business, and worked for one of the largest (former) consumer products companies, Sara Lee Corporation. He has traveled to 65 countries on five continents having experienced the rich cultures, food and lifestyles of Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and more. He has personally seen changes in our atmosphere and oceans as the world’s population has grown three times in his lifetime. Not all of those changes have been positive.

Steve is a recognized expert in the fields of corporate social responsibility and sustainable business. He is a graduate of Otterbein College and Xavier University (Ohio), and is an adjunct faculty member at Appalachian State University. He is married with four children and four grandchildren and resides in North Carolina.
