Overview

Stop Looking for a Husband: Find the Love of Your Life bucks the notion that a woman needs a husband to be happy. Ever think the reason the divorce rate is so high is because women have been, taught that life isn't complete without a husband? We rush into marriage only to discover that it was never meant to be. Quick, find that man before you reach a certain age, and seal the deal. Make him commit or else! The truth is, a marriage will never work when its foundation is set on shaky ground.

Author Marina Sbrochi tells the modern, intelligent woman that she will only find real love when she gets the objective for marriage out of her head-a fundamental mind shift. Change your goal from finding a husband to finding the love of your life, and you'll find happiness.

Women have been conditioned to search for the perfect man who will fulfill the dream of a white dress, a diamond, 2.5 kids, and a house in the 'burbs. Nowhere in this fairy tale is there anything about falling in love with the one you can't live without-and having fun doing it!

The honest, straightforward advice-and the often hilarious accounts-speak to anyone who has read all the "rules" and tricks, yet can't seem to get off the starting line.

Stop Looking for a Husband will not only give the intelligent woman ideas for a new and enhanced approach to finding love but will also keep her in stitches with sage advice and true tales that can only happen in real life.

Meet the Author

Marina Sbrochi grew up in Dublin, Ohio, (a suburb of Columbus). Like any good buckeye fan, she opted to attend The Ohio State University. While attending the university, she lived with 6 girls and it was there that she found her love for helping others to navigate the dating world! The stories she has from those four and a half years at Ohio State could probably fill another book. Even though most of the escapades could be classified as bloopers, it was there that important lessons were learned.

After college, she moved to New York City to begin a new career and with it came new dates and lessons! It was there that she met her ex-husband. They dated for almost three years before they were married and moved to Dallas, Texas. In Dallas, she began an acting career so she could pursue her love of comedy! She was lucky enough to be in a few commercials, a tv show, a sketch comedy group and a couple of movies.

She and her ex-husband were married for 6 years and have two beautiful children. They probably had the nicest divorce anyone could ever have. They are still great friends and love their children more than anything. He is now happily remarried and they are a wonderful extended family.

As she was going through the divorce, she really tried to figure out what went wrong. It was there that she started thinking about this book. She wanted to figure out a way to prevent more divorces. As she began to get back out into the dating world, she came at it with a new outlook. She was not looking for a husband. She was looking for the love of her life. Lucky for Marina, she was at a concert one night and with one lucky tap, she found the love of her life. The rest is history in the making.

Currently, she is offering her help to others via a dating consulting service. She wants everyone to find the love of their life.

For women who don't like to hear it Marina tells it like it is

I just loved this book and Marina's quirky style of writing. This book is a quick, enjoyable read that won't leave you with that multiple therapy session book feeling. You will laugh your way through it and still learn a lot in the process. Marina shares stories of her real life friends and her real life which gives her advice real meaning. From the first sentence Marina already had my attention and let's just say I read this book in one sitting.

Page after page kept me wondering why some women do these things she shares in her book. I also found myself pointing out some women I know in my life who are guilty of some of these bad behaviors toward men and relationships. When Marina speaks about how some women already have their complete wedding planned out and don't even have a boyfriend, it just cracks me up. At this point in the book I had a memory of when I was a child. Me a little under the age of 10 on the front porch of my cousins home, my cousin telling me "when I get married I am going to have 8 bridesmaids in my wedding and the color of their dresses will be.. yada yada ya." I quickly tuned her out then and throughout my life. That cousin who is a year younger than me, I now married and over 44, has never married. She has been in very bad relationships throughout her life. I have been lucky that I have never been so superficial when it came to men, not to say I have not had my share of jerks, but I am happily married. This book is not about finding a man, it has great advice even for the married woman, advice we can also share with our daughters. Many of us women who are mothers have daughters that may carry these self destructive patterns Marina speaks about. It doesn't matter where they learned it, they need to unlearn it. The truth is the main point of this book is about finding your true self and making her happy, then learning how to love her, before searching for someone else to love.

    The Dating Game Unrvaveled!

Are you looking for the perfect mate? The question alone, according to this author, sets one up for all sorts of mind-game playing and eventual disappointment, even heartbreak. The advice offered in this latest book on dating and seeking a "soulmate" is actually common sense, one would think, right? Not so, for too many single people looking for Mr. Right, carrying out conversations and behavioral shenanigans that belie one's sincerity certainly produce the opposite of one's original intentions. Perhaps the motivation is the problem, more than whether interests are held in common or not.

The simplest advice offered by Ms. Sbrochi is to "be yourself," followed by chapters on how words expose the essence of who you are, how words often show how shallow or practical your aspirations are, and how actions borne out of honesty and integrity increase rather than decrease one's appearance of integrity in a relationship.

This book is not only full of advice for single woman but also overlowing with advice about how being yourself solves the problem and then everything else follows. Mixed into each segment of wise counsel are very funny stories of how presenting who you are turns either downright silly or potentially disastrous when you try to fake it, when you dress a certain way and get exactly the opposite of what you wanted, and so many more scenarios that will have the readers chuckling or guffawing with glee.

The author is also quite frank if the reader is looking for that "dreamboat" guy - don't bother reading further as you will be sorely disappointed. This also includes immediate talk about weddings, family (unless asked), other earlier relationships, and so much more.

Stop Looking for a Husband is a down-to-earth, practical, guide that just might help a lady find a "real" husband, if that female reader is set on following some great advice and manages to keep a sense of humor and level head about her all the time!

Interesting and revealing romp through the land of dating and finding "Mr. Right Guy!"

    YOU HAVE TO READ THIS!!!!

For girls that has done everything wrong in her dating life, like rush a relationship or not be themselves, this is the book for you. Take it from me...I am one of those girls. After reading Marina Sbrochi book, "Stop Looking for a Husband: Find the Love of Your Life," I decided to change up my ways and be myself. This book is more about loving yourself and checking your love ways. It is about you and taking a look at you. I like the scenarios because I could relate to them or have been in that same situation or conversation. Thank you, Marina Sbrochi for writing this book. It is more up to date then the Rules...which did not work for this girl.

Must read for everyone, guys or girls

This book is well done: hilarious, on point, and a must read for everyone. Whether you are already in a relationship or not, it will make you laugh as well as think. It's also entertaining to read and will have you laughing out loud at the silly things we have all done (or cringed at as our friends did) and recognize in the stories the author shares. Have the fabulous life you deserve.
