Overview

Hi, my name is Mia. I have lots of brothers and sisters and we all live with Ms. Charlene at Black Dog Ranch. Most of us are not true brothers and sisters, but we are a real family just the same. Ms. Charlene says what makes our family so special is a whole lot of variety.

Some of us are short and some are tall. Some have tails and some have no tails. Some of us are lean and some are a little plump. Some of us have ears that stand up and some have ears that are floppy. We even have a few horses living here at the ranch. I guess the reason Ms. Charlene named our farm the Black Dog Ranch is because most of us are black dogs and she said it just seemed ...

We even have a few horses living here at the ranch. I guess the reason Ms. Charlene named our farm the Black Dog Ranch is because most of us are black dogs and she said it just seemed fitting to name our farm the Black Dog Ranch. I have lots of stories about how we all came to live here so pull up a chair on the front porch and I'll get started.

Great and thoughtful book on saving animals

This book is so cute. It being written from the dogs point of view was
great. I have always wondered what an animal would think or say about the people who are suppose to take care of them and keep them safe and this book tells it all. The bad that can be done and the good that can be done. Kristie has done a great job. I read it to my 6 year old niece and she loved it, and had more questions that I could answer about "rescuing" dogs.

Excellent reading for children and any age that enjoy a true story baseline involving hope, second chances, and giving.

The stories are from the point of view of Mia, one of the BLack Dog Recsue Ranch characters, and she happens to be a real dog! I have met her and she is very sociable, sweet, and happy. She tells stories about her friends that have been rescued and given a second chance by a loving giving human that always has room at the ranch. All of the stories are based on true experiences of the auther, Kristie Jones, whom I also have met. She is very kind, soft spoken, and loves those animals with all the joy God gave her. The author does readings at elementary schools and sometimes brings Mia with her, so keep that in mind. This is a must read.

    more from this reviewer

Excellent and inspiring read for children and adults. The interactive blog concerning the animals on Black Dog Ranch's website provide updates that entertain and humor readers of all ages.

Kristie Jones has captured the reader into the everyday antics of the animals at Black Dog Ranch. Best of all, the Ranch and characters truly due exist as her family. A wonderful gift that will keep on giving to help Kristie's efforts in supporting animals that had no place to call home.

    A True TAIL of Hope

I LOVED this book! It's great for children of all ages - 3 to 90 or older. While Kristie shares some difficult things in this book about animal neglect and/or abandonment, she shares it in a way that will make children want to be responsible for any animal life that graces their own. What is even better is that it is a true story - a true story of hope and second chances! I highly recommend reading and sharing this book.

    Great Children's Book

This is a great children's book for many ages. It's great to read to the little ones and a nice book for older kids who know how to read for a book report. I donated this book to my son's school library and it's a big hit there! My 4 year old granddaughter loves looking through the pictures.
