About the Author

نجيب محفوظ (1911-2006): أحد أبرز الأدباء العالميين والأديب العربي الوحيد الحاصل على جائزة نوبل للآداب. وُلد في حي الجمالية بالقاهرة، واستلهم من أجوائها عالمه الروائي الذي تجسد فيه المجتمع المصري بكل تحولاته. ألَّف 35 رواية، أشهرها الثلاثية (بين القصرين، قصر الشوق، السكرية)، وأولاد حارتنا التي أثارت جدلًا واسعًا وتسببت في محاولة اغتياله عام 1994. كما ألَّف 17 مجموعة قصصية، بالإضافة إلى كتابيه "أصداء السيرة الذاتية" و"أحلام فترة النقاهة"، التي كانت آخر ما نُشر له عام 2005. تحول الكثير من أعماله إلى أفلام ومسلسلات، كما كتب سيناريو العديد من الأفلام، مما عزز تأثيره في الأدب والسينما.
