This is the second installment of Christina Dodd's new series of "The Chosen". In the first book we learn about the terrible tragedy that happens to The Gypsy Travel Agency. You are introduced to the newly appointed "Chosen" and you are introduced to Jacqueline Vargha who is the "Chosen's" Seer.
In the second book you are given a chance to learn about Aaron Eagle. Aaron Eagle is also a newly appointed "Chosen". Aaron mus help the Chosen find a lost prophecy. He has no idea what it is and where to look. So he enlists the help of a brilliant scholar named Rosamund Hill. Rosamund is a true "bookworm" and has suffered true loss in her life. She has no idea the battle between the Others and the Chosen is real. She is pulled into the battle and Aaron must fight to keep her safe.
In the beginning Rosamund is unsure of her self around Aaron and doesn't fully trust him. Aaron must prove himself to her but more importantly, he must fulfill the destiny he runs from. If he does not - then all is lost and the Other's will find victory.
Aaron and Rosamund's story was WONDERFUL! It was an adventure at every turn! I couldn't put it down and I cannot WAIT to see what Christina has in store for us next!

However, now he is one of the Chosen so he feels a strong sense of purpose to use his gift to help fulfill the prophecy and as a form of redemption. While his Chosen teammates remains stunned with the destruction of their base (see STORM OF VISION), he seeks his soulmate to help him on the quest.
Antiquities librarian Rosamund Hill is a pragmatist like her dad; she scoffs at her late mom's belief in the legend of the Chosen Ones. Her belief system is devastated with a knock on her door. Aaron has come for his Rosamund, who struggles with believing he wants her and trying to accept that her mom was right. However Aaron has competition for Rosamund, who cannot believe two hunks want her.
STORM OF SHADOW is a fabulous Chosen Ones urban romantic fantasy that follows up from the first entry, STORM OF VISION; thus that book should be read first to fill in the background. The relationship between the librarian and the former thief is terrific, but it is the battle and fears of failure; their mentors understand sending an inexperienced team into combat in which danger is everywhere and betrayal is the norm can get them killed; while the key seventh Chosen has not been found and the records destroyed that make this work a stupendous thriller. Christina Dodd is two for two.

If you plan to start reading this series...beware. The first few books are great. The keyword "first few books". C. Dodd started this series a few years back and has not written a new book since. I could not understand why there were not any new books out until I looked up her book list and found that she has since started more series. It is a bad move for authors to this. They gain the reputation of incomplete series. I am not the first to complain about this issue. Although the books are great would hesitate to recomend. I have been waiting years for the rest of the stories to the series while she has been starting new ones. Beware...you might never find out the end of the story. Four stars for the book and zero stars fir the author.

This is just not my kind of book -- too supernatural. This author captured me with other books, however

Heretofore she has been one of my favorite writers and while I haven't given up on here yet...this second installment of The Chosen Ones series is somehow worse than the first.
Storm of Visions - the introductory book - debuted a whiney voiced heroine named Jacquelline complete with mother issues and a martyr complex tangled up romatically with Caleb - a "hero" who essentially rapes her in the second chapter. Even if I could get past those issues, the plot holes were more like chasms, the characters less than dynamic and the overall tone of the book reeked of an amateur...something Dodd is hardly.
I gave Storm of Shadows a chance merely because I wanted to see if she had strengthened her voice and direction with the series. She did not. Again - the characters are one dimentional, the plot lacks focus and rather than leaving me wanting more - I instead wished I had never bought it in the first place.
The true irony however is learning how Dodd worried over this series- I believe on her website she discusses how she sought out other writers and friends and workshops to flesh out the plot and characters...I think she either received some extremely poor feedback or was the unfortunate butt of a competing authors joke.
Save your money for a latté or a matinee movie. This series isn't worth the paper it's prnted on.

I really enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I am looking forward to reading others in this series.
Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.Ms. Dodd's first book, Storm of visions, was good. It had good character development, good story progression, and I found myself wishing I could have gotten to know Zusane's character more.
But Ms. Dodd's second book to the series, Storm of Shadows, seems to me nothing more than filler. There is no story progression and the whole book is only about Aaron and Rosamond. Sure we do find out a few things, such as, Caleb and Jak. getting married. But all in all, the only significant part of the story was that Gary White came out of a coma and he confronted Irving in the end of the book. So.. if you want to find out what happens in the book, just read the last page, or better yet, the last chapter. You will find out all you need to know in the third book.
They find out at the beginning of the book that they need to look for a girl because she foretells of the "prophecy" then they find out at the end, that they are looking for the WRONG girl so they are back at Square 1. I don't feel that the characters skills are fully utilized, we have a seer for goodness sake here. USE HER, and I can't believe that they didn't figure out that Gary white was the guy in her vision "drip drip", I know I did.
One of the things that annoyed me was the classic "good vs evil". Sure it is in alot of our movies, books, etc. But, in this one, Evil is always one step ahead, always more powerful. At the end, of this book, we find out that it's "love" that conquers all. Romantic and corny I have to say with touch of clique. So.. All the Chosen have to fall in love or they loose the epic battle but what about the Others? Why are they so powerful, why is it that evil is ALWAYS like this? What challenges do they have to face to win against the Chosen?
I will not be continuing this series, I'm looking into Dobbs's other books in hopes that I wont be disappointed with those.

Recently started reading this author. It just happens that I bought Storm of Visions 1 week before Storm of Shadows came out, so the timing was perfect. I definitely think Storm of Shadows is 10 times better than Storm of Visions. I am halfway through and am loving it. There is much more character development with the main characters, Rosamund and Aaron, and there is a stronger sense of understanding with the plotline and the "other" players. I will definitely be buying the next books in the series.
As for Dodd as an author, i dont feel the same sense of oneness and sympathy/empathy with the characters that i do when reading Nora Roberts, but i am enjoying her and glad i discovered someone new to read!
