It is impossible to read this on the nook. Most characters appear wrong. I think all these badly formatted books should be made unavailable (or else reformatted)

I really like this book because it tells a ton of interesting stuff about history. If your a history nut you'll love this book. I got interested in it because i love Newberry Award Books and this book won the very first Newberry Award In 1922.

Story of Mankind is a book of our history written almost like a story book. What I find unique about this book is that it gives you a lot of organized information in reader-friendly form. I read my favorite parts first, then read the book straight through. Our history is fascinating to begin with and Story of Mankind, from 1921, stands today as an outstanding, educational, easy-reader.

I read The Story of Mankind not expecting to think much of it. Most history books in my opinion keeeps dragging on and on about a certain idea or thought. The Story of Mankind moves along quickly. I think the author spends just enough time on the topics that would influence the lives of modern day americans. This book will give you the basics of european history but it will not give you the whole story. I only gave this book three stars because the author gives a lot of personal opinions that do not belong in a history book. I have to say that this book was interesting though and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in european and american history.

I am not an English reader, but I read the chinese version of this book before, I was really like it. Just like other classical book(Torlerance, etc.)that Van Loon had, it's easy and simple to follow, You can always find wise and shining words in this book.

this historic novel was rather bland in my opinion, not giving the appropriate details of world history and going into a lot of matters where the only perspective expressed was that of the author. A truly disadvantageous history book.
