Would prefer to give it 3.5 stars, but I'll round up because it

Would prefer to give it 3.5 stars, but I'll round up because it was fun. I heard McInerney talking about his new book and mentioning that in "Story of My Life" his character was based on Rielle Hunter whom he had dated back-in-the-day. We know what she's like now, but what was she like BITD? The book is in the first person, told by a 20-year old trust fund girl living in NYC who does too many drugs, sleeps with too many men, wants to be an actress, parties hearty, falls in and out of 'love' with men who don't (surprise!) love her back, borrows money from everyone (when dad doesn't send the checks), and doesn't want a real job. Her friends are pretty much the same. She does have a sense of humor about it all and she comes out with some great, laugh-out-loud, memorable lines. I did laugh a lot. Though I kept saying out loud, "This is so sleazy", I kept right on reading until I was done. It's a day-and-a-half book. A good beach read. He certainly did capture the character and she was easy to imagine. And perhaps now we know how those girls turn out.

You can't read it just once!

I first read this book about 7 years ago and it soon became 'old faithful' when I had nothing else worth reading. I let someone borrow it and I was devastated when they failed in returning it as promised. I am now buying it again!
