From Barnes & Noble
Learning to create plausible plots and subplots is an essential writing skill: A story without structure is an amorphous blob. Victoria Schmidt's Story Structure Architect is designed to shepherd struggling authors through each seemingly daunting step of the structuring process: from identifying characters and plot tension; to generating conflict, weaving in subplots, and resolving your story.

Wonderful for getting down to the hardcore mechanics of the process.

A lot of writing books give generalized advise. Show, don't tell, read a lot, and use good grammar. So many books say those things that it is discouraging to keep looking for a good one. This is one of those that gets deep into the mechanics and the "how" of effective writing. It's worth the time to read and reflect on how it can be applies to your current project.

I find the examples to be unhelpful. Why do writing teachers use movie example rather than examples from the plots of books? Most of the examples used would be better suited for a screenwriting course. Give books and written stories their due. (I reserve the right to revisit this eval if ...
