Children's LiteratureSix holiday stories have been compiled into one volume creating this Christmas Treasury. The first introduces readers to Corduroy, the loveable teddy bear and his preparations for the holiday. He and the other stuffed animals who magically come to life decorate a tree, sing carols, create a gingerbread house, and bake cookies. He writes a letter to Santa asking for all the special things that his friends want and selflessly claims that he really doesn't need anything. Of course everyone gets what they wanted including Corduroy. Other stories include The Little Engine That Could and the Snowy, Blowy Christmas in which our little blue engine saves the day by delivering Santa's last present when the reindeer all come down sick. In the Night Before the Night Before Christmas which is a parody of the poem by Clement C. Moore, everything that could go wrong seems to have, but family love saves the day. Wee Three Pigs is a very contemporary telling of this old tail filled with puns and with a nontraditional ending. All About Christmas: A Merry Alphabet Story pretty much defines this Christmas tour of the alphabet and holiday activities. The final tail, The Nutcracker is an adapted version of the story that retains the basic elements and is accompanied by pictures filled with plenty of detail. To give the book a unified look all the pages have a wide green and red border. An inexpensive gift that will keep a reader busy for quite some time. 2003, Grossett and Dunlap, Ages 3 to 8.
