Overview

This easy-to-read outline review follows the unique two-column Straight A's format that lets students choose how they study for NCLEX® and course exams. The interior column outlines key facts for in-depth review; the exterior column lists only the most crucial points for quickest review. Other features include NCLEX®-style questions at the beginning and end of each chapter; lists of top items to study before a test; Time-Out for Teaching patient-teaching points; Go with the Flow algorithms; and critical information highlighted in a second color.

A bound-in CD-ROM contains hundreds of NCLEX®-style questions—including alternate-item format questions—with answers and rationales.

Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Josie Martin Bowman, RN, MSN, DSN (East Carolina University )
Description: This nursing study guide uses a systems approach, with each chapter presenting a discussion of disorders within the system. This second edition contains updated information.
Purpose: According to the author, the purpose is to "improve student performance while in school."
Audience: The book is written for nursing students. Information is contributed by consultants and content experts in the field.
Features: The book covers each system with select disease processes. The diseases are defined with potential causes, pathophysiology, assessment findings, and management, both medical and nursing. Highlights and key points are listed on each page.
Assessment: I would recommend this book for nursing students to assist with them with organizing information. The content is basic and students need to use other resources to supplement content.

    I Also Recommend:

This book is a great study tool

This book was very helpful in studying adult med surg for RN or PN. As long as it is used as a resource instead of a replacement after you have read the chapter. I didn't use any other books for fundamentals of nursing and I seemed to struggle more than I did in med surg. The only thing I didn't care for was it did not give rationales, there is no specific fluid and electrolyte chapter, and it did not list interventions into priority like most med surg books. As long as you read your required text, remember your ABC's, and the hierarchy of needs it will help you study. Put it this way: I used this for our first GI test, the highest grade was an 88%, the majority of the class failed miserably, and I made an 83%! Great study tool!
