I am a mother of three, ages 2-6, and all three of my girls love to look at this book as much as they love to have it read to them. I also purchased the soundtrack on CD and we listen to it in the car all year round. The voices are creative and humorous and the music is wonderful. I even find myself humming the tunes! A must have classic you'll never get tired of.

I purchased this book as a Christmas present for my nephew's new step-granddaughter. Before I wrapped it, however, I decided to read a few pages. Those few pages turned out to be from cover to cover.

This was a wonderful book with a fascinating story and was it was beautifully photographed. I know we are in the age of Photoshop, digital manipulation and sometime we cannot believe what we are seeing with out own eyes, but the photographs were visually stunning in any event.

Young Iris, a precocious four year old, was captivated. So was her new great aunt.

The rating section above didn't really apply to this children's book so one specific for children's books would be great.

My three toddler grandchildren (ages 2 & 4) love The Stranger in the Woods and we read it frequently! It's a story they can relate to and shows how woodland creatures respond to some unknown thing in their space.

I happened across this book at my local library and brought it home to read to my daughter. The pictures kept her interested much longer than most books and I liked the story as much as the photos too.

My mom gave this book to me when I was 31. As a photographer I was amazed by the simple elegance of the book. Since then I have given this to many as a gift.

As a speech-language pathologist working in an elementary school, I read a lot of books. What I LOVE about this book is it is PERFECT for working with kids who stutter. Every form of disfluency is featured, providing a very natural opportunity to identify each type and talk about how to cope with it in positive ways.

My son has Autism and this book is a tranquilizer. It is so calming and the photography so beautiful. The animals are so gentle and caring. It share a message about life, friendship and perception. My son may or may not get that part, he does get the snow and animals. Ether way if he is upset this beautiful story is blessing as he calms right down. Reading in a calm yet animated tone works well with children I have always found. This book is a perfect start to a bedtime or anytime you just want to feel good.

This review is from: Stranger in the Woods: A Photographic Fantasy Authors Sams and Stoick have put together a winner of a book. It combines their excellent photography and narrative skills into an engrossing story about a stranger who appears suddenly in the woods. Animals are used as the narrators and they wonder who this stranger is. His red hat and carrot nose and the food he has on his person soon make the animals comfortable with his presence. He provides them with needed food, which isn't all that available during the winter. I have donated this book and others by these same authors to school libraries. The entire series is well-written and worth getting for those little ones in your family, but adults will enjoy it as well.

This beautifully photographed book forever captures the mystery of childhood and some of its discoveries that usually slip away with time. Now we have it to review over and over again.

Bought as a classroom gift. The children in the classroom range from K-3rd grade. As the teacher read the book, I noticed it kept everyone's attention. Pictures are beautiful.

I have given this book as a gift twice and both times I have received very positive feedback from the parents saying how much the children loved the book and the story.

I have the other book on deer that this couple wrote and photographed. I think it is great that the Snowman ended up being the stranger and not the deer.
