Overview

When her parents and twin brother die within weeks of each other, Alicia and her younger sister are left in the hands of an uncle who has brought them to financial and social ruin. Desperate to save her family from debtor's prison, Alicia vows to marry the first wealthy man to propose. She meets the dashing Lord Amesbury, and her heart whispers this is the gentleman she is destined to love, but his tainted past may forever stand in their way. Her choices in potential husbands narrow to a scarred cripple with the heart of a poet, or a handsome rake with a deadly secret.

Cole Amesbury is tormented by his own ghosts and believes he is beyond redemption, yet he cannot deny his attraction for the girl whose genuine goodness touches the heart he'd thought long dead. He fears the scars in his soul cut so deeply that he may never be able to offer Alicia a love that is true.

When yet another bizarre mishap threatens her life, Alicia suspects the seemingly unrelated accidents that have plagued her loved ones are actually a killer's attempt to exterminate every member of her family. Despite the threat looming over her, learning to love the stranger she married may pose the greatest danger...to her heart. And Cole must protect Alicia from the killer who has been exterminating her family before she is the next target.

Oooh plot twist....

A delightful regency romp with a phantom of the opera feel

Bit long and I figured out who Nicholas was easily. Alicia became a bit annoying and the charade was drawn out too long. The villian was a surprise. Shortened would have made a 4 star story. Shame.

You never know what will happen in this book. Team Cole or Team Nicholas...which one to choose!?

I was beginning to detest Alicia. Nicholas was so kind and gentle and way too patient. I very much enjoyed this read.

I love everything by Donna Hatch, but I this is one of my favorite books ever!!! The plot twist at the end (don't worry, I won't spoil it) was completely surprising! But once I knew what the twist was, everything made sense! I just reread the book and It was just as much fun to read the second time, now that I have that perspective in mind. All in all, this was a fantastic, clean romance.

Wow. The Rogue Hearts series came highly recommended and this first book did not disappoint! There are vibrant characters who are flawed enough to be realistic but not unlikeable. The difficult circumstances provide impetus to push the action forward in unpredictable ways. I had my suspicions about the mysteries unfolding, but was uncertain enough to be kept guessing. I felt like Cole and Alicia fell rather quickly for each other in the beginning which made their attraction seem superficial or based on physicality, but as the story progresses they are able to appreciate each other for deeper reasons. I thoroughly enjoyed this clean but passionate romance and can't wait to read the next brother's story! (Thank you to Loving The Book for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)

Loved it! Read it again. There were many twists and turns in this book. It kept you on the edge of your seat. Alicia wants to help her family and is determined to married a wealthy man. She would prefer to love him, but she doesn't have much choice. And when Cole Amsbury is requesting her hand, She likes him, but he was the cause of her twin brother's death, so she takes a stranger, which is Coles cousin. The plot thickens as someone is trying to kill off all of her family and she is falling in love with Cole and her husband. I enjoy regency romance novels. This one was wonderful. There are times you catch things the author is trying to tell you before the book comes to an end. Read it! You will enjoy it.

The Stranger She Married features mystery, romance, forbidden attraction, and many plot twists. I was able to figure out the two most complex twists before the end of the story but I had to keep reading just to make sure the author didn't toss in any other mysteries to be solved. The hero's brothers all seem like they need their own stories because the snippets shared about each of them, whether they featured in the story or not, were very intriguing.

For all of those women out there who watched the Phantom of the Opera and thought the Phantom was hot--mask and all--you'll appreciate this book. Donna has done a great job of making the reader guess which guy the heroine will end up with.

I loved this book. You know a book is good when you can't get it out of your head. That's how this book was for me. I still .. months later - think of this book. Which is why I decided to post this review. Donna does such a wonderful job at painting the picture and throwing you smack dab in the middle of the story. If you love romance, you'll love this book!
