After reading the 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy by E.L. James I was at a loss as to what to read next. I read several rather disappointing books in the same genre and finally did a search on the internet intending to ask the question "Can anyone recommend a book like 50 Shades?" Well evidently I was one of many people asking the same question and this book came up recommended by several people. So I bought it in E-book format and read it in less than 24 hours. BTW if you haven't read 50 shades of Grey drop what you're doing this minute and buy it and then come back and buy this one! After reading this one however I discovered that this book really was not that much like 50 Shades at all. Well kind of... The set up was the same. Girl from modest upbringing meets famous rich guy who needs to be tamed. Not a novel concept but how they came to meet each other and what happens after that is entirely different. Like Christian, Charlie is adopted and has issues related to that. He's gorgeous, sexy and insatiable but due to his wealth and fame he's reluctant to trust or get close to anyone enough to fall in love. But the similarities end there. Charlie is much more outwardly vulnerable, (frankly a little too emotional for my taste). He doesn't have a ton of secrets he's hiding. In this case Kate is the one with all of the secrets and Charlie is the one trying to break down her barriers more so than the other way around. One other thing that was similar about these two books is the HOT HOT, squirm in your seat, love scenes. But where 50 Shades had a lot of soft core BDSM this book hardly even touched on that. But trust me, the love scenes were hot nonetheless. There was enough character development to feel like I cared about these two lost souls and wanted them to find happiness together. The feelings between the characters in a lot of the romance novels I've read in this genre move way to fast. Within days the couples are in love and ready to spend their lives together and it's just not believable. Both authors, Elsborg and James, took their time allowing us to see more now the feelings developed over a period of time. While faster than normal in both cases, it wasn't so fast that I found it impossible to believe the feelings that Kate and Charlie were feeling for each other. Anyway, I really enjoyed this book and am now very interested to read what else Mrs Elsborg has written and I was pleasantly surprised to learn how prolific she has been.

I choose this book after reading the other reviews. I too had just finished reading the 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy and was sure I wouldn't find anything like it. This is a great book and I look forward to reading some of her others.

All I have to say is that this was one of the best romance books I've read. I normally don't write reviews but I just simply had to say that it's a must read.

## If you like to cry, this book is for you. For me, not so much. Although the author did a phenomenal job conveying the hurt, anguish and heartbreak, I read to escape all that. There needed to be more pleasure for me. The dialogue was snappy and I did like the heroine. But the hero? No thanks. He's beyond redemtion in my opinion. Having sex with and supplying a 14 year old with cocaine? But she said she was 16. And that makes it better? And believe me, there was so much more. I found him incredibly weak, giving in to all those women and his agent when he really wanted to be with the heroine. In his late twenties and he couldn't stand up for himself. It was pathetic. And the heroine forgave him without a thought of how much hurt he caused her. So even though the writing and the sex was superb (only reason I rated it this high), it's the story I didn't like.

Wow. That's all I could say after finishing this book at 3am, drained and elated, when I could not put it down. Strangers by Barbara Elsborg just blew me away! Please do not be put off because the book is erotica, it was an amazing story with the right amount of humour and emotion and by the end of the roller coaster journey to their happily ever after, I felt like I knew Charlie and Kate and I felt an almost sense of disappointment that they were not real, that the book was fiction and that I could not look them up and see how their lives were progressing. To start a book with the two leads both trying to commit suicide and turn it into an amazing love story is incredible. What a wonderful, sexy, powerful, emotional, humourous, incredible book. Wow.

This was such a wonderful, sexy, suspenseful read! I love Charlie and all his wicked ways and then some. The love he and Kate love one another in detail in this book can ignited a fire in anyone.

Dark, emotional and gritty. Oh, and don't forget steamy and hot. Strangers is deeply intense, sure to pull in the reader. Kate and Charlie are two extremely screwed-up individuals that harbor dark pasts. Now, I don't condone suicide(who does?), but Kate and Charlie's lack of wanting to continue life undoubtedly bonds them. They each have depth which is perfectly portrayed by Barbara Elsborg's writing. Kate is a greatly likable female protagonist. She may not believe herself to be strong, but she is and that's the beauty of her character. The reader gets to see all the positive attributes of her character as we watch her struggle with her inner demons. She's also very witty and the banter between Charlie and Kate adds to the story, further showing the undeniable connection that these two possess. Kate and Charlie have similarities but they also have vast differences, and not just that Charlie happens to be famous. Charlie is a piece of work, he's, of course, smoking hot, but he is haunted by past events in his life that affect the way he acts in the present. He has unbridled rage that he tapers down with sex, drugs and alcohol. Simply put, he's a womanizing cocaine addict that hates himself. They each have inner demons that are fighting to drown them, and individually they are helpless to fight back, together they become the others life preserver. As the story opens up we are introduced to the two characters as they literally collide. We are then swiftly taken to first Kate's events leading up to the attempted suicide and then Charlie's. I found this to be a successful way to reveal both of their pasts in a simple yet artful way to rely the information. If you follow my reviews then you already know that I love stories that provide the males perspective. Strangers does this and, quite frankly, the story needed this. There is so much going on between Charlie and Kate, as well as separately, that we need to see both perspectives. To say that the reader will be taken on an emotional roller coaster is an understatement. Strangers is filled with witty banter, steamy sex scenes, raw, emotional moments, tender moments and even moments that might have the reader flinching back from the abrasive reality. But what a read! If you are a reader who enjoys steamy romances between two unlikely, desperate, people that perfectly fit together than Strangers is for you. Just a warning, though, Strangers is an erotica story so if you aren't into adventurous sexual scenes then I would not recommend this book to you. Also, needless to say, you should be 18+ to read this.

Looking for something to resemble the greatness that is the "Fifty Shades" trilogy, I stumbled upon this. Look no farther! This book is also FANTASTIC! Not as great as Fifty, but definitely a close second!

I was quickly pulled into this heartbreaking story and did not want to put it down! The characters were well written and interesting, and their love seemed very real. I sometimes wanted her to yell at him a little instead of forgiving him so easily, but I guess that's what made her character different. Plus, the sex scenes were super hot and just frequent enough to be perfect. I will definitely read this one again.

This is bar none the best book I have read in a while! The story becomes grtittier as it unravels and not predictable at all! I read in a day. Could not put it down! Not to mentiion how many times.I burst in laughter all by myself! I did not want it to end! The characters are freaking awesome. Broken at first, but not ruined. The author did an amazing job of NOT turning the book into a soap opera as many books these days turn out as. The sex scenes ar ehot hot hotttt but you can always feel the connection betwen the characters. Amazing romance! Just bougjt 2 mor eof her books!
