Strategery

Overview

Strategery is a term borrowed from a Saturday Night Live skit and self-deprecatingly adopted by the White House for their meetings. White House Correspondent Bill Sammon is borrowing it yet again in his latest account of this unlikely-yet historic-president. It is written with verve and piercing insight by Sammon, who has been granted unprecedented access to President Bush, Vice President Cheney and their most senior advisers. No other journalist has interviewed the president more times than Sammon.

    Not as good as Misunderestimated

Maybe it isn't Bill Sammons fault, After Bush was re-elected there have been very uninteresting times. The book is good up to the point of Bush being re-elected, then it became a snoozer. Maybe I was just paying too much attention to the news in the last 2 years, and re-reading a history fresh in my mind is boring. I am glad I have the book to review in 10 years, but for now it is a snoozer.

    'Liberal' Means 'Fair & Balanced'

The term 'Liberal' has also been demonized... by people IN THE MEDIA. So how is the media 'liberal' again? Explain that one to me. You can always tell a fool when they spew that 'liberal media' garbage. It's a clear tipoff that you're dealing with an ignorant person who is easily duped.

    RE Bush isn't conservative...

So troubled is he who obviously wrote his review of the book before (or if) he even read the book. For those who want to know what the Pres is like w/o cameras on him, then this book is THE book. I really looked up to him before. Now, it's quite a bit more! For those who just loathe him, well, why are you reading this, shouldn't you be listening to 'Air America' or something... or maybe you just work there because you can't be a listener... supposedly there are none!

    Bush is not a conservative

In other words, this book's premise is baseless. Bush is not a fiscal conservative. The national debt has exploded with his profligate spending increases while cutting taxes. The first American president to cut taxes in wartime. Stupidity, yes, conservatism, no. Bush seeks to expand the power of the presidency to allow wiretapping of conversations of American citizens. Expansion of presidential power at the expense of individual rights is not conservatism---and is against the US Constitution. Bush's environmental policies have relaxed controls of air and water pollution. If conservatism has anything to do with conservation, Bush is not a conservative. Bush kowtows to big oil and big pharma. This is naked opportunism.
