Gr 5 Up-In an effort to help students improve their ability to think critically, this slim, colorful volume discusses how to evaluate and form judgments about information so that one can be successful in the classroom, with homework, and on tests. Beginning with finding similarities and differences between two things, key words such as "compare," "appraise," and "select" are defined and discussed. The next topic addresses how to assess the value of different options. The terms "judge," "rank," "prioritize," and "rate" are demonstrated. "Making Smart Choices" and "Evaluating Evidence" are additional aspects of evaluation that complete the text. Helpful colored sidebars give suggestions and examples of the various terms explored.
