    more from this reviewer

55 expensive pages of unedited tripe

Essentially, these seem to be unedited journal entries, or possibly e-mails/letters to family members. There are numerous grammatical issues (the author makes it clear he doesn't know the difference between it's and its), the story is written almost entirely in passive voice, and worst of all, the author (and I use the word loosely) almost exclusively tells you about his adventure rather than using language to craft a picture. I wouldn't read any of Lawrenson's other books even if they were offered for free.

    Thank you Brian Lawrenson

My dream is to go to Viet Nam. I also want to go to Siem Reap. I had all sorts of pictures about what that would entail. Your book made it real for me. I enjoyed your picturesque language describing the people and their culture and the historic sites I will see. I enjoyed your sense of humor, and thank you for adding information about the different restaurants and hotels that are there. I will be going by myself, but I'm hoping to find a very reputable tour company to go with. Again, thank you. For anyone who shares my dream, this is a must read.
