Included are Holly's delicious five-ingredients-or-less recipes which combine everyday ingredients into quick, satisfying healthy meals without adding extra stress to mealtime. And Holly's personal thirty-day habit changing eating and workout program is included to get you started without struggle or strain.

Editorial Reviews

Kirkus Reviews

Healthy-lifestyle expert seeks to balance the mind and body in this solid debut.

Despite regular workouts and attention to her diet, lawyer and yoga teacher Mosier wondered why her waistline was increasing as she grew older. So she researched why her daily 90-minute exercise program was largely unsuccessful, discovering that the cause was stress from too many activities and overeating. As a remedy, the author formulated a plan to eliminate stress and streamline her diet. She starts with 10-minute beginner, intermediate and advanced yoga sequences, and concludes with a 30-minute restorative yoga program that peels stress away in a section replete with photographs and easy-to-follow instructions. Parts 2 and 3 consist of revisions to how we eat and exercise. The author provides an Approximate Daily Consumption chart (for men and women) and a Glycemic Index chart to guide readers in their food choices. Mosier suggests daily exercise at varying intensities and recommendsusing a heart-rate monitor to exercise more efficiently. In the final section, she provides a month's worth of meal plans and workouts, complete with more than 50 simple recipes. The author gains attention and respect as she readily admits to bumps along the way, and she encourages readers to pick themselves up and begin again.

Lifestyle change chronicled in motivational, non-coercive language.

    A must read

Holly is an inspiration. I've learned so much from reading this book - how to focus on the positive, rather than the negative . She writes in a way I could relate to, instead of just telling me what I should do.

For example, at the beginning of Chapter 4, Holly wrote that her husband had cleaned the kitchen, but she could only focus on the fact that there were still crumbs on the counter. And I thought, "That's me! I do that." But I didn't know there were easy little tools to help me to not only stop doing that, but to feel more peaceful and happy all of the time. Now I constantly look for things to be happy about and appreciate, instead of criticize. I am a happier person because of it. I am a better mother and a better wife.

The most important tool I learned from the book was how to "Opt Out." I was a new mom, and I overscheduled myself. I was trying to be supermom, the best mother, the best wife and the best friend. I realized I was spreading myself too think, and it was okay to say no. That set me up to be more peaceful all the time.

Being a new mom, I was so overwhelmed at first. I had to learn what to commit to and what to say no to. And once I did, I was much calmer and a better mother and a better wife.

Holly gives us permission to say no. And I felt relief. I am not superwoman, and I don't need to be.

I think this book will help so many people. Everyone can use help to reduce stress in realistic ways. There's 10-minute yoga - that's doable. There is an easy breathing exercise I can do anywhere, anytime. There are more than 50 recipes that are 5 ingredients or less, and they are delicious. It made it quick and easy to cook at home. It can't get any easier.

This book has helped me so much. And if I can do it, anyone can. It's written for average people and it teaches such easy methods to simplify your life. You will be healthier, happier and live a more enjoyable life. I certainly am.

I have recommended this book to so many people because I know so many people will come away with so much. Focusing on the positive, simplify your life - it's just such a positive, inspirational book.

    Highly Recommended

4/1/11 I woke up the heaviest I had ever been, I was overweight, over stressed and just done. I read Holly's book, implemented all of the stress management, worked out every day, and re-vamped my kitchen, my life, my family. I have never felt this good. I turn 50 in 1 yr and 9 months. I sooo wished I had this book when I was a teenager, but hey, I haven't looked this good in 20 yrs! Holly rocks!

    Inspiring and Do-able!

I found this book Stress Less, Weigh Less to be full of practical, easy to follow guidelines that definitely resonated with me. Instead of buying into a restrictive diet that generally leads me to quick weight loss with no real hope of maintaining, I feel like this book has given me an easy lifestyle change that directly addresses the key component to taking off the weight and, more importantly keeping it off. I have found living in today's complex stressful world, that I have had a hard time losing weight. Reading Stress Less, Weigh Less gave me hope. Hope for today and hope for my future. I have struggled with my weight for years and now I feel like I finally have a plan. I absolutely loved Part One of the book. Holly Mosier is an inspiration and her tips and tools to relieve stress are life changing. I have already started to lose weight, and it seems effortless. I picked my "happy weight" and I am looking forward to getting there and staying there. I highly recommend this book to anyone trying to find balance.
