Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 9 Up-Here, Morgan is out of control-and just when things seem to be settling down. Even though she is a powerful witch, her newbie status makes the magick difficult to control. Violent episodes appear to follow her, and her friends think the events are her doing. But are they? Could Morgan's biological father really be the cause of the dark magick? Or is there another powerful witch who is blind to her own power? Characters continue to develop and the thrilling action continues to move the series along nicely. Especially good are the passages involving Morgan's family. Her parents' reluctance to accept their daughter's new religion is a realistic addition. Still confusing, however, are the mysterious diary entries circa 1971. Some of their content mirrors Morgan's struggles, but readers may not be able to reconcile the diary's presence within the text itself. Still, it does help sustain the overall foreboding mood. This ninth entry is too involved to stand alone, but fans of the series will enjoy it.-Elaine Baran Black, Gwinnett County Public Library, Lawrenceville, GA Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.

This wasn't the best book in the series and hopefully the rest of the series won't be like this book. I don't know what was so different about it...the writing style was the same but something was just off

    I loved it!!!

Although this series is for young adult readers, I am in my late thities and really enjoyed it. I have not read the last book yet, but so far, the books I have read have been intriguing and well written. The story line keeps my attention easily and I find myself thinking about what will happen next as I go through my day. Great for teens and those who enjoy paranormal books without alot of sexual content.

    MUST READ!!! EXCELLENT SERIES

Where do I begin, I loved the whole series. The author grabs you from book 1, pulls you in and just keeps on going until the last book. The characters are easy to relate to and every one of the books has twists and turns in them that at first you think you have figured out only to find out that you are wrong and they end even better than you expect. Cate Tiernan is an excellent author Nd I can't wait to read her other series Balefire. This is a definate read that will keep you on your toes until the end.

    I love it!

I absolutely love this series. But I must say that this was my least favorite book. That is because a few of the characters frustrate me every time I read this book. I know that is Tiernan's intention, but it can't stop me from feeling... annoyed. I still recommend this entire series to anyone willing to read it. I'm just warning them about the characters. : / But it's a good book.

    What did you expect?

What did you expect from Cate Tiernan but the best?! This book is fresh and gives the reader a new look and perspective of the other characters and even tantilizing glimpses into the future. This series has gone beyond the mark in creating characters who are real and hip, with special traits that leave you in a thoughtful trance as your own friends and parents echo in the characters. This was excellent and I'm sure that the next books will give me even more to rave about!

    The Sweep series are Awesome!!!

The Sweep series by Cate Tiernan are really good. She mixes excitement, fantasy, romance, Wicca, and adventure all in one. I started reading the first book, finished it, and went back to the bookstore to get more. The series makes you want to keep reading. I found it hard to put them down. They are great for teens, and people of other ages, too.
