Overview

They don’t call it the Strip for nothing. . . .

In this sinfully sexy Las Vegas romance from bestselling author Heidi McLaughlin, a man who has it all reunites with a woman who takes it all off.

Living in Sin City, Finn McCormick is no stranger to one-night stands, but the last person he expects to find losing big on the casino floor is a former high school fling. Even though Macey Webster’s clearly down on her luck, she’s still a knockout, and she’s dressed like a stripper—because she is one. Drunk off an unfamiliar cocktail of lust, pity, and compassion, Finn offers to pay Macey’s debts if she cuddles up to him around town . . . and does whatever he wants between the sheets.

Macey came to Vegas for one reason only: money. She’s got a young daughter to support, and the tips really are bigger in Vegas. But when she blows her earnings on blackjack, her guardian angel is the rich boy who once stole her heart and never called her back. Although Macey would love to turn the tables on Finn, she can’t afford to refuse his proposition—and soon she’s enjoying herself much more than she cares to admit. Macey’s used to baring her flesh, but baring her soul will take far more courage.

The first book in McLaughlin’s (Home Run) new series, an amusing retake of Pretty Woman, entertains with blistering physical desire and witty banter amid high-stakes personal conflicts. Macey Webster is a struggling single mom in Spokane, Wash., and supporting her 10-year-old daughter, Morgan, is her utmost responsibility. She hopes to earn much-needed funds through an arduous week of stripping in Vegas and a few rounds at the blackjack table, but she loses all her earnings on one bad turn of the cards. Wealthy casino owner Finn McCormick, vaguely recalling that they were once lovers, offers her $30,000—if she’ll be his public date and private mistress for a week. Macey reluctantly agrees, as going home broke is not an option. Finn, who mystified himself by making the proposition, soon has to admit that their kinky lovemaking has an underpinning of romantic connection. But there are stumbling blocks to moving forward: Finn thinks Morgan is Macey’s boyfriend back in Spokane, and Macey does not correct him, fearing what will happen if Finn realizes Morgan is his daughter. The conflicted hero and unsinkable heroine make a great pair in this sexy contemporary with a heart of gold. (Mar.)

Stripped Bare by Heidi McLaughlin Stripped Bare takes a familiar story and makes it, its own. There are moments where you go aww I know, I’ve heard something like that before. But Finn McCormick is not Edward Lewis any more than Macey is Vivian Ward. she does have Vivian’s feistiness although sometimes it takes a while to come out. She takes a lot from Finn mainly because she can’t resist the hot, sexy bossy alpha S.O.B. Macey was 17 when she got knocked up and her baby daddy left their hometown for college and another life. He never knew she was pregnant and went merrily on his way, while Macey had to struggle living with her drug-addict mom, and raising her child alone. Left with what she sees as no choice, she works 2 jobs just to survive. Waitressing during the day and stripping at night. A stripper friend tells her she can make way more money if she goes to Vegas. In desperation, she finally does. One week and her nest egg is secure, until she decides to risk it all on the turn of a card. One week, one card, one chance encounter. Finn has it all, the lifestyle, the women the world at his fingertips. Until he sees Macey. Somehow he knows her but it’s not until her speaks to her that he realizes he knows her from home. Seeing her lost and desperate, he does something he’s never done before. Offers his help. Be his date for one week and he’ll solve all her money problems. Macey has nothing left and agrees. It’s only a week, what could happen in 7 short days. It’s not like they’ll fall in love. God, he won’t even kiss her on the lips. But, love works in mysterious ways and sometimes, it only takes one glance, one touch. Can a girl from the wrong side of the tracks change a serial womaniser? Can he made up for a lifetime of missed opportunities? Finn McCormick is one hot, sexy driven man, but he turns out to have a soft side. I loved how he took Macey under his wing and helped her flourish. How he accepted her daughter Morgan into his life too. Macey is a fiercely protective mother who is willing to put everything on the line for her child, even her heart. Sometimes, she needed a bit more strength, I felt her pain, her happiness. Felt the lost when Finn let her down. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more from the author and this series. **Received an ARC copy for review from the publisher via NetGalley**

I absolutely loved Stripped Bare, I read it in one sitting! With all that fast-paced excitement, I had to see it through! Finn is a casino/hotel owner who knows and always gets what he wants. Macey would do anything to provide for her daughter and get them into a good home and neighborhood. When Macey heads to Sin City for a week, she happens to cross paths with Finn again. Before you know it, he offers her a deal too good to refuse. When lines are blurred and the stakes are high, will this become more than a business transaction? Will what happens in Vegas stay in Vegas? Only one way to find out, I definitely recommend you one-click this hot read!

Finn and Macey meet up unexpectedly when she sees him in the casino he owns in Vegas after losing a bunch of money at blackjack. Their worlds could not be more different - he owns two Casinos and she is a single mother who makes a living as a waitress by day and a stripper at night. Macey gets a tp that she can make fast, easy money for one week in Vegas so she decides to take the plunge in order to better her life and that of her daughter, Morgan. After losing a huge hand, Finn makes a proposition to Macey that she can't refuse. Finn recognizes Macey as a one-night stand he had back in high school but can't remember her name. Macey knows exactly who Finn is when she sees him since she stares at similar features on her daughter every day. Finn knows nothing of what has transpired in Macey's life and just assumes she is a stripper because she grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Their story was interesting, but I am not a fan of keeping such a huge secret for someone. Macey had ample opportunity to come clean and chose not to. Finn was not all that endearing at times and I wanted to throttle him at points. He really could not get out of his own way at points. He claimed not to think of her as a wh*re but yet insinuated it over and over again. He was awful slow on owning his feelings and Macey paid the price for that several times. Macey really did get whiplash at points from Finn's constant hot and cold behavior and I would have walked away at a certain point. I did like the ending and was glad to receive an ARC of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

Wow!!! I have a new favorite author. Stripped Bare was so much more than just a romance book- the characters were written with such emotion. Macey & Finn are old high school "friends" but Macey is a struggling working mom & Finn is a successful business man- they haven't seen each other in years. I have to say I was surprised when I found out Macey's daughter was Finn's (I usually figure that kind of plot twist out a mile away ;) but the author did such a great job keeping the story focused on the present that I didn't think much about their high school hook up. The fallout from the reveal was such a great read. I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Strip bare is interesting love story kind of reminds me of pretty woman from the start but it has a couple of twist that are interesting. Both characters are well develop and interesting. Finn is a little bit more arrogant from the start but that change toward the end. Heidi is struggling trough life and when Finn makes her a deal is the one that she can’t refuse. She is strong fighting to survive and I like that she decides to go to educate herself. Good story. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

I received this book via NetGalley.com and chose to review it. 4.5 Amazing stars. Finn McCormick didn't know what he was getting into but he knew that there was something there. The very calculated business man is turned on his heals when Macey walks thru his casino doors. What he doesn't know, can it hurt him? Macey will do anything to get her life on track. To make it better for her and her daughter. But when she comes face to face with a man from her past will her world end or the fairytale begin? I LOVED this book. It is fast paced, easy read that takes the reader on a rags to riches story line. The passion, the angst, the chemistry, the heat, the jealousy, the hatred, the hidden secrets, the missing links, all make this book a breathtaking read. I didn't want it to end.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? Maybe not when it involves something that happened 10 years ago. Macey is a single mom who has been raising her daughter by herself and struggling and failing for so long she is desperate and so goes to Vegas for a week to earn some fast money stripping. On her last day the lure of the blackjack table gets to her and she loses her money (at which point I started calling her names) and Finn steps in and tries to save the day. Finn is the owner of the casino and also from her hometown and a blast from the past. Macey runs from him but he tracks her down and propositions her with enough money for a week that will change her life. What he doesn't know is she is leaving someone behind. A week, a lot of chemistry, a lot of sex, a lot of fun, a lot of dirty talking, and a lot of angst and lust. Macey and Finn didn't know what hit them when they came together and tried to keep it just a transaction. No kissing allowed... I recommend this one and look forward to more! **Received an ARC copy for review from the publisher via NetGalley**

4.5 Stars! What happens when you combine the fairy-tale Cinderella, the film Pretty Woman, and hot sex? Stripped Bare, a well-written book by new to me author Heidi McLaughlin. The author blew me away with her well-defined characters, engaging plot, and raw, emotional situations. This is the first book from Ms. McLaughlin's brand new series, Vegas Billionaire, and it does not end with a cliffhanger. Macey Webster was born into poverty. She worked very hard and got good grades in order to pull herself out from the slums. When she found out she was pregnant, her entire future changed, and her only concern was the ability to take care of her daughter. She barely makes ends meet as a stripper and a waitress, but she keeps her head held high as she continues to seek out new opportunities. Macey decides to work for a week in Vegas, where she can double or even triple her earnings, so that she and her daughter can move to a safer apartment, away from her alcoholic mother. She runs into Finn McCormick, an old acquaintance and high school dalliance from home, after losing a ton of money in his casino. Finn feels bad for Macey, and offers to pay her a tidy sum of cash, in exchange for being at his beck and call for a week. Macey's many reservations about his offer do not offset the need to support her daughter. A week together completely turns their respective lives around, as they share their bodies and some of their past. Macey and Finn have amazing chemistry, which evolves their sexy times into so much more. Finn likes to be in control in the bedroom and he does so with dominance and desire. Their sexual connection is so special, they are able to work through the bad in order to get to the good. I really enjoyed this story. Ms. McLaughlin writes with a very clear voice and she balances the happenings with the greatest of ease. If you enjoy a novel with a strong heroine and a hero that just won't give up, then check out this touching read. Overall, this is an exciting book that twists and turns in all the right places. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Second chance romance with a side of Cinderella Macey Webster is doing the best she can. She's a single mom who aspires to give her daughter a better life than she had. She hates her job but finding something better hasn't happened yet. Following the advice of a seasoned pro, Macey sets her sights on the big money of Las Vegas. She isn't prepared for what, or should I say, who she'll find. Finn McCormick is a self-made millionaire. He doesn't do relationships after watching his dad move on so quickly after his mother's death. There are plenty of women in line to become Mrs. McCormick including the conniving sister of his best friend, Brady. Running a lucrative casino and hotel business has many requirements, some good, some not. I loved this twist on Cinderella and was hooked from the beginning. I loved Macey's dedication to being a good mom despite her upbringing and her perseverance. I loved watching Finn's world change even as he fought it tooth and nail. I have read other books by this author and am happy I read this one. It's a little different than the other books of hers I've ready but I enjoyed it just as much. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

If this is your first Heidi McLaughlin book than you will not be disappointed. With this book you just need to throw out all your preconceived notions and just enjoy all the twists and turns. This book has a very "Pretty Woman" vibe but it is so much more. When what can only be described as fate brings Macey & Finn together it starts a fun game of "pretend" that will leave you wondering, swooning and hoping this "pretend" will turn into something more. This book had the perfect balance of suspense and swoon worthy moments that made me not want to put this book down. Definitely don't miss out on this amazing story!

Finn has everything he wants at his fingertips and has no time for relationships but when a familiar face from his past ends up losing BIG at his casino he offers her a proposition to good to pass up. Single Mom Macey hasn't had an easy life. She is doing everything she can to provide for her and her daughter. A quick trip to Vegas and she knows life will start moving in the right direction for them. Coming face to face with Finn McCormick wasn't in her cards but she knows the proposition he is offering will get things moving in the right direction. Agreeing to a week with Finn no time is wasted, they are off and bantering and seriously heating up the sheets!! But with an end date set in stone will Finn have his fill of Macey in just one week?
mamalovestoread22 3 months ago
Finn McCormick doesn't do relationships, the mere mention of them and he's sprinting for the door, one night between the sheets is the name of the game with him. After witnessing his own parents marriage completely unravel, and end in heartache, he decided early on that there was no way he was ever going to travel down that path. And for the most part it's been easy for him to avoid it, but when the alluring Macey Webster wanders into his casino, clearly in need of his help, he can't help but get involved... and before long his plan to keep things one night only becomes really hard to stick to! To say that Macey Webster has been dealt a crappy hand in life is an complete understatement, but she is doing all she can to change it, and has a plan in place to get her life on a better track. Her little plan involves one week in Sin City, doing a little dancing, and reaping the benefits... but when temptation gets the better of her she finds herself broke, alone, and back at square one. Now she must find a way to re-earn the money she lost to help create a better life for her and her young daughter... lucky for her a friend from her past is about to offer her the deal of a lifetime, now she just has to decide if it's worth the gamble! As soon as my eyes landed on the synopsis for this story I knew it was going to be a exceptional read, and I am happy to report that it DEFINITELY lived up to my initial expectations, it was AMAZING!! Barely a chapter into the story I was hooked and felt myself being pulled deeper into Finn and Macey's alluring world and couldn't wait to see how it would all end! The instant these two wandered into each other's lives you could literally feel the sparks bounce between them, and those little sparks produced some very blush worthy scenes that had me in dire need of a fan...several times!! Enjoyed every minute of this one, it touched my heart, made me swoon and left me with a smile! Highly recommend you give it a try! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

I enjoyed this one although it seems it is my week to read books with leading male characters I love to hate! Macey is a down on her luck single mom doing what she has to do to get ahead. She's been trying for 1o years now though so she takes a chance and goes to Vegas to earn some quick cash stripping in the clubs there. She had me up to this point, then she makes an insane decision and my respect for her takes a huge hit. Finn is a club owner is Vegas and can't believe his eyes when he sees Macey, a girl from his hometown, losing big in one of his clubs. Seeing how devastated she is at losing her money Finn offers up a proposal. One week - she belongs to him and he'll pay her double what she lost. He's arrogant, bossy, and demanding. And Macey loves it!! Definitely a book I recommend.

**Advanced copy provided by the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review** This is the first book in the new Vegas Billionaire series by Heidi McLaughlin and I felt it was a solid first offering. Macey Webster has been down on her luck for as long as she can remember. She grew up on the "wrong side of the tracks" and has always had to worry about not only having a safe roof over her head, but also where her next meal might come from. Since she had her daughter Morgan, she's wanted nothing but to give her daughter the life that she's never had. In order to do that, she's having to make some difficult decisions on how to bring in the money needed to move them to a safe place. Having starting stripping to bring in the money needed, Macey learns of an opportunity to go to Las Vegas for a week to make some quick cash. She entrusts Morgan's care to her friend Steph and heads to Sin City. Finn McCormick is no stranger to women and one-night stands. He's sworn off relationships, love and entanglements. The last person he expects to encounter playing blackjack at the casino is a woman he had a one-night stand with back in high school. When he realizes she's lost every cent playing the card game, he makes an offer that shocks him and that she can't refuse - he wants her to do whatever he wants for a week and he'll pay her handsomely. With Morgan to support at home, Macey knows that while the last person she really wants to get involved with is Finn, she knows he's likely the answer to the financial quandary she's been in. As Macey and Finn spend more time together, feelings begin to emerge, but will either one of them be able to, or want to, face them? Or will Macey still hold a grudge from so many years ago and will she try to turn the tables on him? I enjoyed this book and think the Heidi McLaughlin did a great job telling this story. I'm looking forward to the next offering in the series!

From the very first page, this book had a 'Pretty Woman' feel to it, and because that is one of my fave movies, I couldn't wait to see where this Cinderella story would lead. I enjoyed getting to know Macey. She was a sweet, heard-working woman who would do just about anything for her daughter; stripping was a means to an end, agreeing to Finn's proposition was a way to get there faster. It was obvious that Macey didn't enjoy what she did for a living, the thought of taking it a step further was even more unappealing, but Macey's fairy godmother was looking out for her and gave her the opportunity in the form of Finn. He may be a player with commitment issues, but he was the boy who first stole her heart, which kinda made it okay. I'm still on the fence about Finn. He is definitely all alpha male with plenty of charm and cockiness, and at times that rubbed me the wrong way. He seemed to think that sex was the answer for everything and it felt like he was using Macey, even after their week together was done. I looked for every redeeming quality I could find so that I could overlook the things that I disliked about him, and thankfully I found them during the "Morgan revelation". Perhaps Sin City had hardened him; made him cold and calculating, but there was warmth below the surface and it just needed to be unearthed. This story was a fairytale romance filled with sensuality and heartache. I could only hope that the characters would find their HEA, but for a while there I thought it wasn't meant to be. I'm glad I was wrong.
