This book started kind of slow for me but then, suddenly, the main character, Annie, blooms. I mean BLOOMS. Her love affairs are odd, including a male prostitute and a Latvian Lord, but believable. Ms. Stone has managed to create a complex and sensual character who refuses to live the conventional life. As for erotic...there are many passages I've re-read to get me in that certain mood. Highly recommended, especially to San Francisco readers, who will delight in seeing their town thrive in its sexual splendor.
