Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 8 Up—In this manga about teens who learn about the pain of unrequited love, Ninako has a romantic awakening when Ren, one of the most popular boys in school, notices her when he accidentally breaks her cell-phone charm and then replaces it. This generosity from the school "pop star" distracts Ninako from Daiki, the boy who's been there all along, and makes her start becoming more interested in "girly" things. As the story progresses, she evolves from being a one-dimensional girl with a simple life into someone who gains maturity as she learns what love feels like. She falls for Ren by watching him sleep on the train, by talking to him, and by appreciating his acts of kindness. The black-and-white illustrations feature the manga tropes of pointy hair and big eyes (perhaps bigger than most, if that's possible), and the panels are filled with life and action. This book will be a sure winner among fans of the form looking for a mix of romance and drama.—Andrea Lipinski, New York Public Library

Like I said, it isn't an amazing shojo manga (especially if you've read manga like High School Debut or Dengeki Daisy) BUT it is a good read. The one sided love that's going on can become annoying after a while but the characters are lovable and endearing in their own ways plus there is a bit of other stuff going on that will keep you interested enough. Its pretty hard to describe how I feel about this serious. I have mixed feelings but I guess the best way to describe is like when you're reading a book or watching a show and it's not the best thing you've ever come across but for some reason you can't stop watching or reading because you want to know what happens at the end anyway and one or two characters are nice. Then the next thing you know ... you're addicted! That's how this manga is for me. So I'm on volume 6 now and I have to say that volume 1 is a bit shaky but it gets better as it progresses. The characters become more interesting and bigger things actually start to happen in vol 5. So it's worth the buy on nook if you can handle the main characters constant pining for her crush. You might even find Ninako's love for the mysterious Ren endearing after awhile ... unless you're rooting for the other guy, Ando, instead!

FROM MangaLoverJG> Please ignore my other review, I completely confused it with another series and there is no way of editing. NEW REVIEW> This series is very good and it DOES have a great ending. It's a must read for any shojo manga reader. Sorry about the mix up :)

This series starts off really good, but watch out with the ending... very disappointing. But then again everyone has their own opinion. All I know is that I felt that the ending was very weak and not at all what I was hoping for. The series deserved a better ending :'(
