Doody's Review ServiceReviewer: Terri E Kiernan, MSN, FNP-BC, CCRN, CNRN (Mayo Clinic Arizona)
Description: This set of four double-sided pocket cards illustrates stroke images.
Purpose: The purpose presumably is to assist clinicians in stroke identification, considering vascular territory and stroke mechanism.
Audience: This set would be appropriate for a variety of clinicians involved in stroke neurology, from bedside RNs, medical students, and residents to practitioners who are not trained in stroke neurology but find themselves providing care for these patients.
Features: The cards start with a schematic of the vascular territories with MR images illustrating the appearance of the stroke. Larger pictures are used to further illustrate these stroke syndromes for easier viewing with short explanations of the involved structures and the clinical presentation.
Assessment: The images are of good quality. At first, I was concerned about the size of the images based on the first pocket card with the overview schematic, but the remaining images are larger and much easier to see.
