Overview

This new edition of Miriam Nelson's international bestseller takes account of the latest scientific research on the health benefits of strength training, and the feedback from thousands of women across the world who are seeing the benefits of making the Strong Women programme part of their daily lives. It contains:updated scientific information about muscle, bone and balance, 8 streamlined exercises, new supplementary moves for the back, abdominals and more! This scientifically proven strength-training programme turns back the clock for women aged 25 and up — replacing fat with muscle, reversing bone loss, increasing strength and energy, improving balance and flexibility — all in just two sessions per week. Miriam E. Nelson's research created worldwide news when the results were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Her study showed that after a year of strength training twice a week women's bodies were 15 to 20 years more youthful. Without drugs, they regained bone, helping to prevent osteoporosis; they became stronger; their balance and flexibility improved; they became leaner and trimmer, while eating as much as ever, and were so energised they became 27% more active. No other programme — whether diet, medication or aerobic exercise — has ever achieved comparable results.
