First of the the book is very well outlined. They are in logical and relevant order. This helps immensely in sorting out all of the knowledge and information. Secondly, the text is easy to read, but doesn't 'dumb down' or cuts out concepts. Thirdly, the problems are EXCELLENT. There are problems for nearly all situations presented in former chapters so there aren't anything you couldn't do, granted you've read the chapters. I also relied on the book heavily, because as a student, it is difficult to absorb all the information in a 50 min class, and I generally do quite well. The solutions manual not only provides solutions to problems, but explains them very well, the concepts the question is testing, and even provide extra insurance of concept understanding by having a Self Test section (in the solutions manual). Lastly, the book has a feel of quality and an excellent presentation. There are colorful NMR graphs, excellent pictures of mechanisms with green boxes around them to clearly distinguish their importance and to draw attention to them, and there are even extra relevant notes on biological applications and industrial scale synthesis. I hope this helps on the review of the text book! Warning: although text is excellent, your instructor may wish to use reagents that book may not use (my professor made me us konw the structure of PCC), so it is still important to attend class.
