Heralds Of Lights--Chapter 7

    Eren looked preturbed, and Annie looked amused. "N-no!! We're...hehe, not here for the tour." Eren said sheepishly. Mayor Business sighed in a relieved manner. "Oh, whew. Good. I hate the tours I have to do. They're pretty boring. In that case, what did you need me for?" He asked, giving them a look-over.
Annie piped up. "We need heroes." She said shortly. "People from...where we are, we're fighting a war. And we need the bestest, purest heroes we can find!!" Annie nodded curtly to emphasize her point. Mayor Business laughed. "Oh, is that it? We've got you covered, then." Eren and Annie looked relieved. "Yup, one of the best heroes I've ever known." Business continued. "He saved the world twice, y'know. Once, actually, from me. Long story, that is...ahem, anyway, Emmet is really, really clever, not to mention a Master Builder..."
Eren stopped him. "Emmet? Does he wear a construction worker outfit?" Mayor Business brightened. "Yup!! Met him already? He's great, huh?" Annie and Eren gave each other a look. "Yeeeah." Annie said slowly. "Reeeal brave." Eren shook his head. "I've seen braver members of the Royal Guard." He mulled.
Business sighed. "He's still doing it, huh? He's been like this for a while. Never admits to anyone who he really is. Y'know, this war sounds pretty serious...tell you what, I'll lend you a hand personally." He stood up. "Follow me." He called out over his shoulder as he walked out. Annie and Eren struggled to catch up. "This guy sounds a little...off his rocker." Annie said quietly, and Eren silently agreed.
* * *
Later, they were once again in front of Emmet's house. As Annie and Eren caught up, Emmet was just opening the door. "P-President Business!!" Emmet said, suprised. Business sighed again. "MAYOR Business, remember? Just a mayor. Anyway, I've come to talk to you about your hiding away." Emmet acted distressed. "Huh? What're you talking about? I'm not hiding anything!! Now go away!!" Business shook his head. "Emmet, I know you never wanted to be a public figure, much less a publicly-worshipped hero. But you are, whether you want it or not!!" Emmet narrowed his eyes. "Uugh. I just want to be normal!! Really!! Leave me alone!!" Business grabbed Emmet's shoulder. "Remember Vitrivius? He chose you for a reason. To help others. And now, these two persons need your help. Are you gonna do it? Because once, you told me anyone could be special. And now it's your turn, again: go help them save the world!!"
Emmet looked out over Business's shoulder at Eren and Annie. "But these guys aren't even like us!! Look, they're all...weird...how can we trust them?" Business gave the two travelers a knowing wink, leaving the others bewildered. "Oh, they're trustworthy, alright. Believe me, the war they need help with is a dire one." Emmet stood there, thinking. "Y'know..." He finally said. "Everything on TV seems to be reruns now anyway. Sure, what the heck. I'll lend a hand."
