The TiEL series features volumes that present interesting new data and analyses, and above all fresh approaches that contribute to the overall aim of the series, which is to further outstanding research in English linguistics.

Twenty-seven papers presented at the Early Modern English Conference, sponsored by the Institut fur Anglistik und Amerikanistik of the U, of Vienna, and held in Tulln, Austria, July 1991. Three further papers are added that were not presented in Tulln.
