Overview

"A raw, beautiful, poignant story about pain, heartache and first love. I couldn’t put it down.”

- Carly Phillips, NYT bestselling author

Only fools fall in love...

After her senior year of high school leaves behind nothing but heartache, Olivia Beaumont is sure of this: She’s no stupid girl. She sets out for Winston College, promising herself that she will remain focused on her first and only love – astronomy. But all it takes is cocky sophomore Brax Jenkins and an accidental collision with a football, to throw her entire year off course.

A quick-tempered Southie who escaped the inner city streets of Boston to pitch for Winston, Brax is known to play way more fields than just the baseball diamond. So, when his name is drawn to take part in his fraternity’s hazing dare, Brax eagerly accepts the mission to take Olivia’s virginity. But he doesn’t plan on falling hard for the sweet and sassy Texas girl who sees right through his bad-boy persona.

As Olivia and Brax battle their feelings for each other, echoes of the past year begin to surface. A boy who once turned Olivia’s whole world upside down reappears, and “harmless” pranks wreak havoc. Pretty soon the aspiring astronomer is on the verge of revealing her most difficult, heartbreaking secret. All the while, Brax must wrestle with the irrevocable dare, and Olivia struggles against all logic as she does the one thing only a stupid girl would do: fall in love.

"Stupid Girl is the single best new adult novel that I have read to date. Make sure your e-reader is charged, because once you start, you won't be able to stop."

There was delicious conflict, the most complex and developed romantic connection. I don't think anyone will see Olivia and Brax and not feel and completely believe their feelings for each other. It was like getting a glimpse into an epic love story. What starts out as a fairly standard plot of a 90s romantic comedy movie, turned into oh so much more. I can't even tell you how much I loved Brax and Olivia. This is a book that I know I will revisit in the future. Heck a book that can have me smiling, laughing, swooning, and bawling like a baby this much is a hit with me. Stupid Girl just resonated with me. I can't say enough good things about Stupid Girl. I will recommend this book to everyone.Stupid Girl is one of the best books that I have read in a while. It is told mainly from Olivia's point of views, with just a couple of chapters scattered in there from Brax. I liked this technique because it made it mainly Olivia's story, but I love Brax so much so I was longing from his point of view when his chapters were far and few in between. Mostly because he is just so mysterious, I had to know where he stood. I'm really impressed with the story she told. I look forward to reading more from her. I do hope she continues to write more new adult, in this same setting. I'd like to see how Olivia and Brax are doing later on.

This book was hard to put down.  I shed some tears with this one.  Cindy miles portrayed such depth into these characters.  You could feel their struggles and triumphs.  I loved how she picked out Brax's accent in the book and how "Gracie" was hearing it.  This was really well written I really felt for Olivia's character in the book.  She was overcoming some hard circumstances from the year before so you can out right see why she was so untrusting.  Brax on the other hand was not as forth coming it took a bit to fall into love with his character.

Olivia Beaumont worked hard her senior year of high school to get to Winston College. She pushed through the pain of her past to get to where she is and she was determined not to let anyone break her down. Not even Brax.

Brax Jenkins, Boston tough guy and campus playboy, accidentally knocks into Olivia on moving day. He kisses her without thinking and pays for it. But there something about her.

Olivia and Brax become friends, against the constant warnings of her roommate, and slowly her walls come down. She tells him about her past, which isn't easy, and does her best not to fall for him. She doesn't need the distraction. The more Olivia learns about Brax, the more she falls.

Then her world crashes. It wasn't an accident. What is he doing here, what does he want and why won't he leave her alone? What dare? What happened to her study and work plan?

This was a good book! The pace of the book was perfect. Not too fast, not too slow. I would've liked an epilogue taking place about six months to a year later or so to see what became of Brax and Olivia's relationship. Also, what happened with Kelsy at the baseball game? That was kind of left opened ended.

Stupid Girl is the first book in the Stupid in Love series by Cindy Miles. Olivia had something tragic happen to her just before her senior year in high school began. After a year of humiliation, she was hoping to start over once college started. This story brought out a mix of emotions while I read. There was humor, suspense, sadness, steamy-ness, and more.

Stupid Girl by Cindy Miles was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

    Great book

I was surprised by how rapidly this story pulled me in and how well it kept my interest. It was hard to put it down! The main characters are well thought out and the story does not go in a predictable path like so many others. I liked the fact that the author did not shy away from difficult situations.

    Highly recommended

What can I say about Stupid Girl? It's such a reader that I didn't really put it down for two days. I'm the type if reader that I like a book, I get lost in it. I feel what the character feels I feel like I go on the journey with them. Stupid Girl is that such book that I got lost in. Through every up and down that Gracie went through. Through every decision Brax had to make. To feeling like I was falling love for the first time all over again.
If you're anything like me, a hopeless romantic who loves getting lost in the books and finding the deeper meaning. You're going to love this book.

I would have rated this book a 1/2 star if that were an option.

I would have rated this book a 1/2 star if that were an option. If you do not like crude and vulgar language, do not buy this book. If you do not like fighting, anger and violence, do not buy this book. The characters are one dimensional. The story is about jealousy, retribution, and controlling behavior. This gets 5 UGHS from me.

    Pretty decent read

Plot was decent. Good tension between the main characters. I agree with another reviewer, the Boston accented words repeated in italics was a little annoying. Quick read, but book was well paced.

    Plot spoilers and kids

First iff there are too many plot spoilers on here revealing every detail of the story then bragging how they got their book for free. That is not fair to other readers who have to buy their books. You ruin the book when you tell the entire plot line. You do not have to give a readers digest condesensed version of the book in your review. Bn, please stop these rude posters and these kids from using the nook as a game room for roleplaing.

The first time Olivia and Brax meet, it's definitely a meet-cute

The first time Olivia and Brax meet, it's definitely a meet-cute.  He plows into her as she's moving in.   I thought the book was going to be a light, easy read.  Yeah, it's that and so much more.  It's about past mistakes coming to bite us in the butts and moving on from them.

I liked Olivia and Brax for the most part.  I loved how passionate Olivia was about astronomy.  I love how even after being warned about Brax, she gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided to make her own judgement.  I didn't like how she refused to divulge her secret.  I felt as if so much heartache could've been avoided if she had.  I loved how Brax was protective and eager to spend time with Olivia.  I loved his zeal in learning about her.  I wasn't a huge fan of how violent he was though, even if that anger was never directed towards Olivia.

Cindy Miles has apparently written many books but this is the first of hers I've read.  I'm really impressed with the story she told.  I look forward to reading more from her.  I do hope she continues to write more new adult, in this same setting.  I'd like to see how Olivia and Brax are doing later on.

    HOLY FREAKIN MOLY!!!

This is my first book by Cindy and can I just say, Girl, You rocked my world with this story. I really felt like I was there at Winston College with them. Though it took Brax and Olivia a long time to realize it but they were meant for eachother. The chemistry between the is off the charts hot. Brax is such a bruiser but underneath he is just a loney little kid who wants to be truely loved by someone. His past has made him into a monster at times but he is really a very kind and caring person he's just very careful who he trusts to show that side of himself. Olivia is unique and a huge mystery to Brax and she has a beautiful soul. She's tough as nails most of the time but is also very vulnerable. At times this story got so intence I couldn't sit still. At times I cried so hard my heart ached and at times I was laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. Lol. Tessa was a crackerjack and a total spitfire and I absolutely loved her. This story is very heartwarming and is dure to touch you deep inside. I felt such a plethora of emotions. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I definitely look forward to reading more from Cindy.
