As a retired submarine officer who spent a majority of my career on diesel submarines, I truly enjoyed reading the stories and exploits, contained in Submarine Stories, Recollections from the Diesel Boats. The stories are exciting, moving and true. They are the stories of those who served on submarines during World War II and just after the war when the U.S. Navy was transitioning from diesel submarines to nuclear power. Each story contains the emotions of those who were there, those who lived the events, written in a way that allows the reader to share in the excitement. I especially enjoyed the first hand accounts of those submariners who fought the underseas battles of World War II. Exciting accounts from those who were there.
For those interested in submarine history written by submariners, this is the book to read. I classify Submarine Stories, Recollections from the Diesel Boats as a "can't put it down until finished" book.
