    Why I liked Subverting Greed

For me, one of the salient points was the observation that religion is often used by people of ill-will to divide, rather than to unite. The writers indicate that one of the challenges for the various faiths will be to get into action and really do something to change conditions on this planet. In order to be effective, the practitioners of these faiths will first have to put ethics in on their own members, i.e., they will have to curb the harmful actions of the few who commit atrocities in the name of religion. These actions, which of course grab the headlines, only serve to pit faith against faith. This book is a step in the right direction; it shows points of agreement that the various faiths have. By recognizing these points of agreement, I think we will eventually see a world where religious insights can be more influential in improving conditions for us all.
