Conversation Two:

Short Talk:

Contracts are agreements between two or more competent parties. In a contract, an offer is made and accepted, and each party benefits. Contracts can be written or oral, formal or informal, or simply understood by the two parties. To compel some contracts, one must put them in writing. A contract typically creates an obligation to do or avoid doing something, or to pay a sum of money. Contracts are a wide-ranging area of the law, as they cover every instance in which one party becomes bound to another to perform an obligation or to pay money. Contracts are divided into express contracts, in which the terms of the agreement are openly uttered and avowed at the time the parties make the contract, and implied contracts, which are dictated by reason, justice, and that which the law presumes should be performed.

Fill in the blanks to complete the sentences:

16. A contract _____ together the signing parties.
17. All parties signing the contract must be _____ and understand its obligations.
