The national bestselling author of Bled Dry returns to vampire-filled Las Vegas!

A night of indulgence can feel like an eternity. Gwenna Carrick has a history-900 years of it. As the vampiress ex-wife of the notorious vampire Roberto Donatelli, she must keep a low profile. Not easy when you're bathed in the neon glow of Las Vegas-especially when there's a whole online group of vampire slayers bent on dealing you your last hand.

A wild night with a stranger was not in the cards for Gwenna. But that's what happened when she met the ruggedly handsome detective Nate Thomas. Their passion made her feel alive again. But when Donatelli catches wind of the tryst, he's determined to clean house, with Nate the first on his to-off list. Gwenna knows she hit the jackpot with Nate and won't let anyone stand in the way. Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

The fourth installment of McCarthy's toothsome Vegas Vampire series (following Bled Dry) finds sexy Gwenna Carrick, a 900-year-old vampire, living at the casino owned by her brother, Ethan Carrick, the current president of the Vampire Nation. She meets Metro police detective Nate Thomas at a crime scene and offers her help in cracking a case involving an Internet vampire slayers group. Nate is grieving over the death of his sister, and Gwenna has been divorced from Vampire Nation vice president Roberto Donatelli for 300 celibate years. Sparks flare into true love very quickly-inflaming Gwenna's jealous ex-husband, who quickly orders a hit on Nate. Worse challenges await the lovers, as McCarthy delivers her latest with fang-in-cheek flair. (Jan.)

    A Vampire Tale

What a read had me at a wow almost the entire time was reading the book. Las Vegas seems to be the place for vampires. For humans this is a place where your secrets stay secret same could be for the vampires. Seems to be a mecca for them to live and play.
Gwenna and Nate have seemed their lives to cross on a case that has Gwenna questioning what is going on as well as Nate. They are night and day but with this one case which seems to bring them closer together. Gwenna has been around for a long time never really stood her ground until Nate comes into her life. Even Nate has issues losing his sister and his mother is driving him mad. They have all these things being thrown at them but the one big issue they have is Gwenna's ex-husband who wants to have his ex-wife back and will do anything to get her back.
A book that has it all laughter and sex like I said a wow read. There were times my mouth fell to the floor and other times could not stop laughing. As soon as I was done with the book had to go get five more of this author I am hooked now.

    I Also Recommend:

A great follow-up to the other three books

This book really lived up to what I expected. I had loved the other three books before and was expecting something exciting. It was great how other things from the other books were incorporated. I also feel that the main character really breaks free from what I had imagined her to be-from having read a little about her before. It gives a deeper view of other characters you really wanted to know more about. I also felt it was one of the sexier and more sensual of the books. Great read.

I do recommend that you read the other books before starting this one, because many things are linked to the other books; it will make a lot more sense.

His first assumptions about her fall apart after he gets to know her better. Nate enlists Gwenna's online search skills in working on this case. Being so close together causes their already smoking hot attraction to overload. ____ Gwenna since moving to be nearer her brother the Vampire President and his family is becoming her own woman. This chemistry to mortal Nate rocks her to her core. Plus she has to deal with someone trying to kill off her vamp friends as well as a pesky ex husband. ____ Nate's world hasn't been easy either of late and the one bright spot is Gwenna. Will he be able to handle who she really is? ____ Sucker Bet by Erin McCarthy is an absolute joy. Its funny, sexy and emotional. Watching Gwenna evolve into a strong woman is a revelation. ____ Sucker Bet Gwenna and Nate are right up there with my favorite Erin McCarthy couples. You can't go wrong buying a book by this author.

    A reviewer

Nine hundred years old vampire Gwenna Carrick has spent the last three centuries hiding from her nasty former spouse Roberto Donatelli. However after three hundred years of ennui, Gwenna cannot take it any longer especially residing in her brother¿s Vegas hotel and casino. She decides that the Internet is not enough even if she enjoys being part of an on line vampire slayer group. So she finally comes out of her sheltered life to have some fun in the night life of Vegas.---------------- On her first night out on the town, Gwenna meets a corpse drained of his blood she thinks that is not a very charming way to return to the living. Not long afterward she finds other members of her on line slayer group dead drained of their blood too. Police detective Nate Thomas leads the investigation, but he rejects the idea of a vampire instead he assumes a sick human is murdering people and somehow removing their blood. He also knows that Gwenna is the link as she is part of the slayer group and everywhere she goes a body is sure to follow. Gwenna wonders if Roberto is behind the killings even as Roberto vows to keep the beautiful woman safe as he assumes she is the ultimate victim of a deranged serial killer.----------------- The fourth Tale of Vegas Vampires (see HIGH STAKES, BIT THE JACKPOT and BLED DRY) is an amusing entertaining paranormal romantic police procedural. The story line is fast-paced as Gwenna comes out of hiding in spite of having to avoid a bunch of corpses. Nate is a hero who will do anything to keep his beloved safe. Their erotic scenes are worth the price of admission even with a clever whodunit this is a sure bet for sub-genre fans.---------------- Harriet Klausner
