Overview

This delectable follow-up to the bestselling Cookies and Christmas Cookies defines words that are associated with love. From letting your friend have the last cookie (selfless) to waiting to lick the bowl together (considerate), here is a book for anyone who wants to say I love you. Meanings are illuminated in this different kind of dictionary, which is every bit as heartwarming as the experience of baking cookies with someone you love.

Amy Krouse Rosenthal's sweet little lessons, mixed with warm and inviting illustrations by mother-daughter duo Jane Dyer and Brooke Dyer, make for a book that will hit the spot!

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Vicki Foote
Baking cookies and love are the themes of this book that defines words associated with love. Each page presents a word with a definition and a scenario having to do with cookies , culminating in a little lesson about life and love. Words that young children would not often encounter are used throughout the book: "Heartfelt means, I made these sprinkly cookies for you because I know they're your absolute favorite kind." Other keywords include: compassionate, admire, supportive, and tenderness.. These words are explained simply and clearly in the context of cookie-baking, so that each situation and the meaning of the words should be understandable to the young reader. The lovely illustrations show adults, children, and some cute animals in clothes. There is a recipe for sugar cookies on the last page. Thoughtful and poetic, this is a wonderful book for parents to read aloud to their children. Reviewer: Vicki Foote
Publishers Weekly
With an endearing mix-and-match assemblage of humans and animals, this follow-up to Cookies and Christmas Cookies celebrates the vocabulary of love. In one spread, a mother goat in an apron looks lovingly at her offspring: “Adore means, I think you're simply delicious.” Elsewhere, a girl with blonde pigtails in a kerchief offers a cookie to a kitten: “Selfless means, No, really, please, I want you to have the last cookie.” As cozy and welcoming as a warm kitchen. Ages 5–10. (Nov.)
