amusing entertaining contemporary Buckeye version of Romeo and Juliet

Only for her grandma Edna would Rachel Farris return to Destiny, Ohio. However, when her granny tells her she is lonely needing help with apple harvest, Rachel runs home.

As soon as reaches town, Rachel has an incident with police officer Mike Romo. Since their families are feuding as they have for years over Edna's apple farm, the pair ignores their attraction. However, Rachel learns Mike has offered to purchase the Farris Family Apple Orchard which angers her further. Still as Mike and Rachel fall in love, will their feelings for one another supersede the animosity between their families. It will take courage to do so.

This is an amusing entertaining contemporary Buckeye version of Romeo and Juliet that pays "homage" to the Bard as even the cat is named after him. Sugar Creek stars two interesting opposites as he is small town and she is big city to keep them even further apart beyond the chasm caused by the family feud. Neither trusts their heart or the other as love returns to Destiny, Ohio (see One Reckless Summer).

    Sizzling Return to Destiny, Ohio

Wonderful, sexy read. I loved how Toni Blake breathed new life into the opposites attract trope, pairing up ambitious city girl, Rachel Farris, with straight-arrow small town cop, Mike Romo. Alongside Rachel and Mike's story, Rachel's grandmother, Edna (who is hilarious, BTW), tells the story of how the Farris/Romo feud started, and how the Farris family ended up with the Romo apple farm. Watching Mike and Rachel reveal themselves to one another, layer by layer, secret by secret was surprisingly poignant. And the chemistry between these two sparks off the page. By the end of the book I was cheering them on to their HEA. With a colorful cast of locals, including a fat cat named Shakespeare, lovers of Robyn Carr's Virgin River series will adore this second installment in the Destiny, Ohio series. I can't wait to see who is up next!

It was great to see Rachel get back into small town living and see all the dynamics of life in a small town. Loved her friends and Edna was awesome! Donkey ball, softball games, hay rides and bonfires and Apple festivals Ll sound great.

    A FUn And Sexy Read

Toni Blake takes us back to Destiny, Ohio in her latest novel Sugar Creek.

Rachel Farris returns home to help her beloved Grandma Edna with the families apple orchard. She had planned on a just staying long enough to get Edna through the harvest and then head back to her job in Chicago. But Rachel barely hits Destiny's city limits when she runs afoul of the law. Its only Cop Mike Romo whose family has been feuding with Rachel's as long as any one can remember. Seems the Romo's believe the Farris's stole the land the apple orchard now sits. Rachel upon learning Mike has offered to buy the orchard will do everything in her power to not let that happen.

Cop Mike Romo takes his job as the law in Destiny very seriously. He has no usage for speeders no matter how sexy they may be. Mike feels that the orchard should be back in his family and he offers a fair price for it. He can't seem to get Rachel Farris on his side. They seem to goat each other every time they see each other. That is until they give in to their attraction one night when they get locked in together.

Rachel and Mike both go into this affair with both their eyes wide open. Rachel is only in town for a short spell and Mike is no big city guy. But once the initial barbs fade away they both realize that they may have something worth fighting for in Destiny. Their newfound love will be put to the test when Rachel's long await promotion back in Chicago finally comes though. Can they come to some understanding and back this love work?

Sugar Creek is a sexy, funny read. Mike and Rachel's banter is snappy and delightful. You find yourself laughing right along with them. Their sexual chemistry is smoking hot and tantalizing. Toni Blake makes small town living fun and exciting. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

    What an enjoyable book!

Having spent years escaping into romance novels, I've found they can run the gamut from sweet to ridiculously superficial to overeroticized to engaging. This author, with this story, achieves just the right balance in developing interesting characters, settings, motivations, and with just the right amount of heat for a grown up woman to enjoy. I believe you'll feel the same way.

This is the second book in the Destiny series. I was introduced to the series with "One Reckless Summer" a very good book were we meet Jenny and Mick and this book is just as good. Rachel and Mike are strong, like able characters who have great chemistry. They are both basically hiding from their past and fears. Mike behind his gruff and angry personality and Rachel behind her big career and life in Chicago. In Rachel Mike has found his match in every way possible. Read this book to find out how much fun they have bumping heads. You won't regret it.

    Loved It!

This is the second book in the Destiny,Ohio series and I am loving the series by Ms Blake... I enjoy the "people" as she develops them and the story is humorous, sad and very believable... Small town living at its best and real people with real problems and I loved this book because it proves that you can go home again and maybe it is important to leave to learn what you have missed... Mike is great in spite of himself and Rachel has her moments between highs and lows... She wants it all!!! But she works too hard to be able to take care of her family because she doesn't believe they can, or should, take care of themselves... But, can you be all things to all people??? Now over 30 and she has never let herself love?? And her Grandmother has secrets of a long ago love that make this one a doubly interesting read...

    Liked it but

I really enjoy this author and plan on reading the rest of the series but Rachel was really an annoying character and by half way through the book I almost had enough of her flip flopping back and forth bs

Like the first book, this story touches on much more than romanc

Like the first book, this story touches on much more than romance and torrid affairs. These are real people with real problems, some of which are tragic. The chemistry between these two characters is volatile, to be sure, but there is an underside to this tale that focuses on family, loss, and who you should be living for.

Another great book by Toni Blake!

I loved Rachel and Mike's chemistry! They are a very passionate couple, but it was nice to see their relationsip progress beyond the physical. By the end, I was cheering for them to remain together. Mike, even though he was very gruff and hard to take, grew on me. As the story progressed, I could see how the dramatic events that occurred in his life effected him. Edna's story was a bonus. Overall, a GREAT read!!
