Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Heidi Hauser Green
Triplets Jessica, Jerzey Mae, and JoAnn are upset when they find out that the Nutcracker School of Ballet, run by their beloved Ms. Debbe may have to close. The original leaseholder has died, and the new owner is eager to find a violation of the school's lease agreement so that he can have the building razed for condos. Unfortunately, Jessica finds this out when she brings a stray kitten into the school—a clear violation! The school is going to have to close, unless the girls can find a way to save it. At the same time, Jessica is trying to take care of the kitten without her parents finding out. Her feline-allergic father is out of town for business, thankfully, but there are three weeks until a no-kill shelter can take it. Tension mounts as what looks to be the school's final recital draws near. Will the Sugar Plum sisters and friends be able to save the kitten, the school, and their futures in dance? An unexpected surprise just might help. As characters, the triplets seem flat but likeable. Secondary characters are peripheral and cartoonish. Still, readers of the "Sugar Plum Ballerinas" series will cheer at the girls' success. Reviewer: Heidi Hauser Green

    Sweet Lesson

Adorable story about a little girl and her friends trying to save their beloved dance school and a little stray kitten. I love the way these books are written and the cute characters. There's someone all readers can identify with. Each girl has a very specific personality that works well in the story. I like the fact that they have to work (and scheme) together. Very subtle but well thought out lesson... and the kids loved it.
