Gr 8-12-- Another title in the publisher's extensive series. Beilenson begins with the first moments of Indonesia's declaration of independence and then flashes back to its earlier political history. Great detail is given to Indonesia's political struggle and to how Sukarno became involved as a charismatic leader. His personal life is briefly touched upon. A chronology of important dates is helpful. Numerous black-and-white photos are scattered throughout, adding a visual historical record. Unfortunately, an uneven writing style makes the text difficult to follow.
