This story was good. Instead of the mermaid wanting to become human, she was satisfy to live in the water away from the world of men. Sukey is a girl who 's been having hard times with her mothers' new boyfriend but the mermaid tries her best to make Sukey happy.

it's a very lonley story at first then goes to happy then to tear jerker at the end it's a real good story i read it three times

This book is about a girl named Sukey and her step father dose not enjoy her, so one day she ran away to an open sea and had remembered a song someone had told her long ago so she sang the song and a murmaid appeared and they talked for a while and when Sukey was ready to go home the murmaid gave her a handful of golden coins.Sukey saved her coins and did not tell anyone about the murmaid or the coins .
