I bought this book for my 5yr old son who was about to enter Kindergarten, just to get him familiar with the simple fundamentals so he wasn't clueless. He is not one to sit and do his work even when he was in Pre-K and he doesn't like to color too much. I found this book gave the right amount of "work" to do, not too much, not too little. He wasn't frustrated and he did the work for the day. I wasn't pulling my hair out and felt confident that the book touched on the basics enough. It combined learning and fun in a great way. I will buy again. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

My 5-yr-old does not like writing or coloring. I purchased a workbook in the hope of keeping a pencil and crayons in his hand over the summer, so he wouldn't forget all he learned in PreK. Together, we chose this one because there are "goal sheets" for every month, set up like a contract between child and parent- finish the writing/coloring/pencil-work page for every day, plus read, color in the star for each day, and at the end of the month- the child has "earned" his prize. A new lego set was fantastic motivation for the month of July.
The daily practice pages are perfect- not too much work, good practice for the PreK-K summer. I will buy the K-1 book next year.
