I picked up this short story at the recommendation of a work buddy. At first I had no clue what to expect (due to never reading a story about being gay and the events that take place in their lives because of it), but I found the story to be beautifully put together with the constant wonder of how it will end. The author leaves a sense of mystery to the characters and throws the unexpected right into the fray. It is a story about two best friends who are going on a family weekend vacation and the struggles they run into as the accept the fact they they both are attracted to each other without the other knowing that they are gay. As the story unfolds, I found myself wanting to learn more about these main characters (and a couple of the secondary characters). You get great insight into their lives and how others would view them, if they themselves were even fully aware of their inner desires. I, myself am not a homosexual, but have friends who are and I would recommend this short story to anyone: gay or straight. The only thing I hoping for now is to hear more from these characters in the future and anything else this author may have in store for the future.

I think the author has real potential. The characters are believable as the dialogue reflects how a great number of 18 year olds speak. There is a bit of editing that needs to be done, but nothing that detracts from the story. All read

Couldn't finish it. I got confused only a few pages in; whose vacation was it? Who is Jake? What's the main character's name? And the lack of contractions made it a stilted read.
