    Summer of Secrets.

"I can't do this again, Carl. I don't have the strength without Mama. " That was a quote from the book Summer of Secrets. This book is full of drama and action. What I like about it is how all the characters connect and know each other. The main character in this book is Darcy; she's very caution about of stuff. Her parents have been fighting lately and she's scarred dad is going to leave again. This is a fun heartbreaking book. That you don't want to miss out on, (:

    The Best Book Ever!!

This book was about Darcy tryin to get over guilt and pain because she was sexually assaulted. Darcy felt so bad because her boyfriend Hakeem was moving away to Detroit and they broke up, so she decided to hook up with this boy named Brian. When she got with him and went to his apartment, after they got there they started to kiss and stuff, and then Brian (the boy she was hooking up with) started to push his hand up her shirt. Darcy did not like it and immediatly told him to stop. Then that's when Brian tried to rape her. At the last minute Darcy's father came in to rescue her. This is when Darcy started to feel guilt on herself and had multiple nightmares day after day after day. Because of these feelings Darcy was not acting like herself, so her best friend Tarah became worried. But Darcy didn't say anything because she was scared of what Tarah might think of her. Darcy also began to run into problems at home. Lately her parents have been arguing and haven't been talking to each other like they use to. Darcy knew there was a problem but just didn't know what. Then Darcy finally told Tarah her deepest darkest secret that was ruining and tearing apart their friendship. Darcy also found out that her mother was pregnant. At first she was not excited by the new edition to the family but she got over it and became happy.

    Best Book Ever!!

This is a great book because it helps victims of sexual abuse and sexual assault know that their not alone and they should tell someone immediately, instead of keeping it bottled up inside. This book is about this girl named Darcy. Darcy life is going fine until her boyfriend moves away and they break up. After this break up Darcy feels alone so she decides to hook up with this boy named Brian. Darcy thought Brian was a good person but she was wrong. When they got to his apartment, they started to kiss and stuff. Then Brian thought it was ok to put his hands up her shirt. Darcy did not like this feeling so she pushes him off her and said stop. Brian did it several more times, pushing ang holding her down so she couldn't move. Then Darcy's father barges in and saves his beloved daughter from being raped by this monster. Ever since this day Darcy hasn't been herself. Ever time a boy would even glance at her, Darcy would jump and get scared that he would hurt. It got so bad that her best friend Tarah, and her sister Jamee started to notice. This is when Darcy started pushing them away because she didn't know what to tell them. She was scared of what they might think of her. But Darcy soon got over her fear and told her friend and she understood.

    Have not read this but...

I have a friend of mine with an 11 year old son and I'm wondering if this book is age appropriate. From the summary, I believe it looks too graphic for a 6th grade class to be reading. Any opinions?
