I read this book almost 35 years ago and fell in love with the story and the characters. My daughter read it for the first time 18 monthes ago at the age of 8, she.loved it as well. I am a medic, a rider, a trainer, and teach lessons. The book is well written .fast paced and basically very correct in terms of the horse information. If you are.a horse crazy child this is an excellent bookto read for pleasure.or for a.school bookreport. Remember dreams sometimes.do.come true. WINTER pony is a continuation of the.Summer Pony.story

Both my 8 year old and 11 year old daughters liked this book. Although it was an easy read for the 11 year old, she thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ginny dreamed of having a sleek, beautiful pony for the summer- not this half starved, shabby mare from that ghastly pony far.At first Ginny thinks a pony is better than no pony, now Ginny would give her life -and almost does- to save darling Mokey from returning to the farm.

Nice to spend a relaxing afternoon with a flashback-to-childhood story of a girl and her pony. Beautiful illustrations enhance this nicely realistic tale of the joys and woes of horse ownership. I liked it so much that I bought the sequel, Winter Pony, on my Nook. Wish I could own a pony like Mokey. :-)

I would recommend this wonderful book to anyone who loves horses. It is a horse girl's dream; besides the fact that Mokey, the pony, is a shabby thin creature from a horrible farm. But, of course, Mokey steals Ginny's heart and the two become the best of friends! Any happy book with horses is worth reading. Jean Slaughter Doty is a wonderful author. (Note- There is a sequel)
