Overview

In October Breezes, Devin Abbott almost lost the one person who mattered most—Skye Williams. Following a rape and an abortion she'd never counted on, she'd believed suicide the only answer, yet Devin saved her, leaving them both struggling to make sense of a future that included Skye and Devin separating for college. Sometimes, however, the past refuses to leave.

After college, the two return home to face fears time has only deepened. For Devin, that fear comes in the form of living without Skye, the one woman he’s always loved. Skye yet feels the tremors of her abortion—tremors which have convinced her she’s unlovable. Time and again, she rejects him, leaving them both hurt, but inasmuch as Skye cannot see beyond her choice and Devin cannot shake his fear, neither anticipates how the past will shape them and how much power love yet has.

    Sweet and Sensitive--A Must Read

Often, when we finish a book--and most especially one that's struck a deep emotional chord--we're left with the lingering question of what happens after. Most of the time, we're keft to speculate, but occasionally we're offered a treat--an author who cares enough about her readers to grant them another glimpse into the lives of much-beloved characters.

In this long-awaited sequel to October Breezes, Maria Rachel Hooley does just that. Five years after the events in October Breezes draw to a close, we're back with Devin and Skye--Skye yet trying to come to terms with the near-disastrous choices she made in high school, and Devin as madly in love with Skye as ever and struggling to decide what to do with those feelings, leaving both to ponder what's to become of them. With high school gone and college over, will they go their seperate ways for good? As they're both soon reminded, however, not everything can be left up to fate; it's our choices that determine what's to come.

In keeping with the spirit of the first book, Hooley pens a sweet and touching story fraught with tnesion and reward, love and loss, with solid, believable characters and a definite emotional tug that'll keep you turning pages. It's a good read, through and through, especially if you're a fan of the first book, one I highly recommend.

Here, now--which way to the beach?

A story that stays with you

This is the sequal to October Breezes. Skye is meeting up with her best friend Devin after finishing college. She is still dealing with the rape and consequenses of it. This and October Breezes are stories that stay with you. As this story progresses you see how Skye's character developes. Its really an emotional story I couldn't put down. These characters stay with you, they are unforgettable. Its nice to see what has become of Skye's and Devine's life and how they come together. I read this book weeks ago and I still remember them. I highly recommend it.

    Emotions Galore!

What a wonderful and happy ending to such a sad story! This book picked up where October Breezes ended and although i didnt think it required a sequel, i sure did enjoy reading more about Skye and Devin's story.

There wasn't enough stars to rate it with!!!!(:

Summer sunsets was an amazing book. It's a very cute and sweet love story btween Skye and Devin. The story was over all a very good read and i loved it. Skye is portrayed as "high matinance" but eentually lightens up to her bestfriend,Devin. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves cute romance. But devin does deserve better than what he gets(: -Kelsey-Jo

    Awesome

This book was just awesome. All though it was a bit predictable towards the end it was none the less a very good book. I wish the author would've made the last chapter a bit longer but other than those two things in was great

    Awesome Story. Loved it!

This story had me staying up til the wee hours of the early morning to finish it. I just could NOT put it down. All 759 pages of this book were finished that night. The story starts out slow if you didn't read October Breezes, but as the story picks up and you near the end of the book, you just aren't going to be able to put it down. I can gaurentee you that! A page turner that keeps you on your toes waiting for what's going happen next. =)

    terrible.

This book was painfully slow and boring. The character development was weak at best, and the main character (Skye) was portrayed entirely too fragile and high maintenance to be liked. It was a waste of my time.
