Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
School is out, so it is time for fun. The whole family can take time for a vacation. Where shall they go and how will they get there. First things first, the suitcases must be packed. The interactive text asks how many suitcases are displayed. Kids may travel by car, train, ferry, plane, or in a motor home. The European influence is evident since most kids would refer to a caravan as a trailer, also a torch would be a flashlight and a spade would be a shovel. The book contains numerous insets showing a variety of items, and something tactile like the texture of a beach towel. However, the text may confuse young readers due to the choice of British terms. Most kids will relate to the activities and pictures of other kids having fun, but this book would not be a first choice for a librarian or a personal purchase. Part of the "Busy Tots" series and a companion book to Little Helper. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
