The deaths of her sister and his brother bring Summer and David back into each other's lives. Their siblings requested tht the two of them raise their children upon their death. They also requested that the two of them raise them in North Carolina where the family had been running a school/home for troubled youth. They also wanted Summer and David to continue their work at tje mission school. They both are very resistant to that idea. They both have successful careers and lives in other parts of the country and neither wants to give it up. Neither of them have experience with children either and feel that other family members would be better for the two orphaned children. Furthermore, neither are believers and don't feel right about serving at a christian school. Anyway... despite thwir initial reaction, they decide to try it for a year. But will a temporary arrangement prove permanent?
