Like a lot of my readers, I'm a busy mom. It often feels like life is pulling us in a million different directions, which is why I love to write romance!
There's nothing better than knowing you have an escape waiting for you at the end of a long day in the form of a good book.

I'm lucky enough to live in the shadow of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in the foothills of Alberta, where I can write the stories I love. Whenever I get the chance, I escape into those amazing mountains and I can usually be found sitting with my feet in the lake, working on my next book.

As well as contemporary romance novels, I also like to write women's fiction and my collection of stand alone novels are all part of the Escape Collection. I'm always trying something new, so stay tuned to see what's next!

I'm really enjoying Elena Aitken's books. In this story Malcolm is beyond thrilled that all of his hard work to make his dream come true is finally happening. With a huge party to not only bring in the New Year, but to celebrate the grand opening of Stone Summit Ski Resort. He was flying high with all of the excitement and busyness.  Kylie, Malcolm's girlfriend wasn't having the same response. She was happy that everything that Malcolm wanted and worked so hard to get was taking shape, but she felt like her life made no sense. What had happened with her dreams? Her wishes? And her desires? Somewhere in the course of her life and getting involved with Malcolm something went missing and she wasn't sure that she was okay with it. Could she continue the way things were going and would she be happy doing so?  Taking a break for Kylie was a period where she could think and wrap her mind around what she wanted in life without having to worry about Malcolm and what he always seemed to want or need, but for Malcolm it made him finally see how much Kylie actually was a part of his life and more determined to make sure that he did everything in his power to prove to Kylie how much he loved her and needed her in his life.  I'm looking forward to reading more books in this series. I was given an ARC for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.    Lori P

Kylie is dating Malcolm, but is having trouble sharing in the excitement Malcolm feels with the opening of his ski resort Stone Summit. Malcolm has money, and Kylie works in a bar. She feels like Malcolm is just using her for her experience in serving and keeping customers happy. Kylie decides that they need a break, and Malcolm struggles with his feelings of jealousy when his twin brother arrives on the scene. Through help from his friends, Malcolm starts to see that he has focused on his dreams, while Kylie has forgotten about hers. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I was glad to see a book about the real struggles in a relationship, and a couple willing to work on it together.

This is a wonderfully written story that had me hooked from the start. Kylie's concerns over losing her identity were easy to relate to. The fact that she had previously dated Malcom's twin was intriguing. The story is an enjoyably sweet and quick read. I love how we learn a little about the next couple to have their own story told in the next installment of a this trilogy. And, how the epilogue is a preview of things to come. A copy was received in exchange for an honest review.

This was an enjoyable read with an ex thrown in to make life a little more complicated. Kylie now has to decide what is important and to follow her dream. There will be many misunderstanding between Kylie and Malcolm. I am looking forward to seeing how their relationship works out over the course of this series. Malcolm has a lot to learn he must learn to balance out his life between love and work. This was a well written story with an interesting plot that holds your attention. At times the characters are a little immature and have lots of room to grow. The characters are likeable with interesting supporting characters. They have issues to overcome as the author lays out the story in detail giving you a better understanding of each character and what they are going through. I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more of this series.

We all know that the best part of life comes AFTER the HEA. I loved that this book was all about making a relationship work- not just meeting your dream partner. Malcolm is so used to setting a goal, and working his way towards it, that he is becoming a workaholic. Kylie is so afraid of becoming her mother that she shies away from fully committing to Malcolm and working with him to achieve common goals. Elena Aitken has a great way of weaving characters from her previous books into her new ones- which makes her books so fun to read! It's so nice to read stories about couples being couples- when the excitement fades they still find a way to cherish each other!

3.75 stars. I received this book for an honest review. I should start off by saying that this book is a first in a trilogy, however, it's actually the 5th in a series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, it would be much more enjoyable and informative to have read the others in the series first so one would be more familiar with the back story of various supporting characters. It's a sweet love story that shows that love is rarely simple. The main character, Kylie, knows she loves Malcolm, but finds herself not only dealing with issues from her past, but needing to figure out who she is as an individual. Malcolm just wants to take care of Kylie, the love of his life, but tends to present this in an over-bearing, controlling manner. It's a bit cliche, and yet something many couples struggle with and must grapple with in order to move forward. The need for clear communication, the fact that it often takes awhile to figure out what is wrong, who we are, and what we want, is very real and applicable to most of us. It's a sweet, easy-to-read story that many of us can relate to. I love that the story ends where a side character's story takes off. I am eager to pick up the next book right away and continue on with these likable and relatable characters.

This was an extension on the Springs series and I enjoyed it a lot... I did have some trouble with our heroine in this one, Kylie, who seemed determined to ruin a perfect relationship with Malcolm because of deep seeded securities... She didn't want to become her mother (she thought she was weak and too dependent on her father) and she didn't want to become her father (he was too dominant and a workaholic)... She wanted to be herself, relevant and independent but didn't seem to know what she wanted or how to make that happen... The complicating factor was she thought she fell in love with twin brother Marcus first and found out later that it was Malcolm... I guess all is well that ends well but she sure took a long winding road to find her answers... Short book of 140 nook pages... Be sure to read Invitation to Eden, a Novella of 82 pages that sets this book up.

I enjoy the series but this book got on my nerves a bit. She was too insecure and he was too caught up in himself.

Summit of Desire is Elena Aitken’s first book in her Stone Summit series. Kylie Wilson and Malcolm Stone have been dating for four years but have known one another for a lifetime. Malcolm is a busy executive opening a ski resort while Kylie is a waitress dreaming of a more fulfilling career. Kylie is dealing with some major insecurities that affect her relationship with Malcolm. She doesn’t know how to tell him and when his twin brother enters the scene their relationship hits the skids. Summit of Desire is a book about learning how to deal with the past while forging ahead. I loved Malcolm and his want of helping Kylie deal with making the right decision for herself. He is strong and forgiving. Kylie learns to forge through her past and reach for a future that holds the love of her life and the career that she’s dying to attain. This is a quick read that I highly recommend. I’d like to disclose that I received a copy of Summit of Desire in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Malcolm and Kylie have known each other for years and now that they are dating communication is a problem. Is it the time Malcolm is spending getting the Stone Summit up and running? Are Kylie's insecurities getting the better of her. Malcolm's twin brother Marcus has come to town to help celebrate the grand opening and is trying to seduce Kylie back into his arms where she spent her teen age years. A lot of hurt feeling are starting to surface and in a small town there is plenty of advice for your couple!
