Overview

Katherine Doyle believed she was liberated. She heard the playing field was level. Popular opinion said the world was changing, but the record reflects what the greatest minds have known all along; the more things change, the more they stay the same. This notable phrase rang true for women coming of age during the sexual revolution. Grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and daughters make the same journey no matter the vehicle.

Katherine and the women in her life remarkably navigate obstacles known and unknown. Their story will help you laugh if you want to, heal if you need to, and no longer accept the statement "we are only human" as an excuse for bad behavior. Summoning the Strength captures the nature of a life well lived and shows how the worst of circumstances can help us discover the best of ourselves.

Meet the Author

Born and raised in the Heart of Dixie, Stephanie Briggs is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a refugee from corporate America whose experience has taught her that there is always more to learn. Stephanie charged into adulthood with the words, "No one is going to tell me what to do, I'm joining the military." Out of the frying pan and into the fire, but the choice was hers to make, and she is grateful to the women who fought the good fight to make it possible. A no-nonsense attitude keeps Stephanie true to the value of living an authentic life. She is married to a loyal New York Yankees fan with whom she has raised two children, relocated a dozen times, and shared the best years of her life. She currently resides in Texas where gardening, community service, and writing keep her occupied. This book is her first published work of fiction.
